AC blowing hot air from driver's vents, cool air from passenger's. have turned oof & turned truck on & off, still the same. 2004 Chevy Silverado Diesel Pick Up
If it has dual zone temp. control it is most likely the heater control panel.
Your driver side blend door actuator has most likely failed. I don't believe you have to tear apart the dash to change it. When the position indicator has failed the HVAC module will command the door to full hot. You can call around to various shops and get prices on having that changed.

More than likely the problem is with one of the blend doors or its actuator motor inside the HVAC unit in the dash. The repair involves a partial disassembly of the dash to access the parts. This definitely not a thermostat issue.

You need to replace the drivers side temp actuator that is located on the left side of the HVAC box. It is retained by 3 screws and is fairly easy to replace.

You have dual zones that are controlled by temperature actuators the passenger side has lost its memory or has gone bad you can put it in self programming by disconnecting the battery for ten minutes then hook it back up start the truck turn the temperature control on but do not touch any other controls let it go thru the self programming for about 6 to 7 minutes then select your temperature you want if it still does not work properly you may have a bad actuator or a bad connection at the actuator

i was a GM mechanic for many years, the problem you are having is one of your mode door actuators has gone bad, most of the time it is the actuator on the drivers side that causes the problems, i have seen this many times, sometimes you can take it to the dealer and they can hook the computer up to it and recalibrate it but most times it has to be replaced , it is located under the dash in the area above your gas pedal.

I have the same problem exactly, if i turn off the ignition and then turn it back on it begins blowing cold air again. I would like to know what the problen is as it sounds like it is not unique to just my vehicle.
