Check to see if one of the wire harness has become un clipped from the intake tube like the IAT which would also give you a bad fuel economy if that has become un clipped. If there is a Auto Zone around your area, have them scan the car for DTC codes. Auto Zone scan free of charge and can help you understand why the check engine light has come on. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

1998 Pontiac Sunfire. The Fuel Filter needs to be changed. It looks to be the original one, the fuel filter quick release clip is broken. The line will not come loose. What do I do?

if the black circular connector is what has broken, theres not much you can do but replace the
f/line.if its only parcially broke you can try pushing line towards filter, lightly squeesing, then
pulling apart.you may find a repair kit for splicing in a end connector.i seen this happen before
& most require a new line

good luck

98 pontiac sunfire turns over but wont stay runing

When was last healthy tune up? Plugs, wires, all fluids & filters??? Especially fuel filter? I'd start there and run a good fuel system cleaner through it.

I've got a 2001 pontiac sunfire and I can't get the performance it once had. The car accelerates slow. I've replaced the air filter, oil and oil filter, transmission fluid, fuel filter, exhaust, and used...

Is your catylitic converter blocking up? It may be causing the problem. Too much back pressure will cause poor performance & poor acceleration. It may be time to change it. Good luck!

Where is the fuel pump & filter on the 99 sunfire

Buy a Hayne's Repair Manual for your car. It's a life-saver. The fuel pump is probably in the fuel tank (or on top of it). The filter is usually in-line somewhere on the left side frame rail. It's really small and can be hard to find sometimes. Good Luck.

Where is the 1998 Pontiac Sunfire SE fuel filter?

Dear Oilzum, The fuel filter on most cars of that era are back by the fuel tank(where supply line comes out of tank), and usually on the inside of the frame. Find the fuel line from the tank towards the engine and you will find the fuel filter. Most are around 6 inches long and 3 inches around. Call me back if you need more help. quicbric(volvo man)
