Some times My 1999 audi a6 automatic starts with no problem. Then sometimes it wont even crank. Lights all turn on and will sometimes take awhile for it to crank and start. One day I had to let it roll down the hill in nuetral for it to start. Also some times if I hold the key in the turn position it will start.

It's the brake pedal switch. There is a switch down on the pedal arm that closes when you press the pedal down, and sends a sensing voltage to the controller, telling it the brakes are applied. This allows the transmission lock to disengage so you can shift out of Park. When that switch fails, the lock won't disengage. You need to replace that switch and you'll be fixed.

Sounds like the gas presser valve or weak fuel pump. When it dose it again turn the switch on and leave it on for about 3 mins. and see if it will start. If it dose I would say the pump is weak.

SOUNDS LIKE THE CRANK SENSOR POSS. AS I HAVE ONE HERE THAT I JUST DIAGNOSED FOR THE SAME THING WITH A SCAN TOOL WHEN WE FINALLY GOT IT NOT TO START. I'LL FOLLOW UP AFTER SENSOR INSTALL

either a dead battery or bad wire connections from battery to starter first check and clean battery connections if still not starting try jumping battery if it still click than you have bad connection at starter
Testimonial: "Its a new battery - hardly 10 mos old, everything lites up, the radio comes on - Not the battery. I was having issues with the starter sticking..."
