My 95 Gmc sonoma 2.2L starts fine, put it in gear and try driving it wont get out of its own way it backfires coughs then once the rpms get up some it drives better no more coughing it acts like the [ mas] is acting up but it does not have one

2. Crankshaft sensor (spark is cut during high demand)
3. Air filter clog (not enough air during high rpm

Try changing sparks and wires

click the ignition so #1 cylinder is at top dead center then pull youre distributer cap off make sure the rotor is pointing towards # 1 cylinder if not you re timing is 180 deg off pull the distributer out a little and turn the rotor to # 1 cyl you probaly dont have the timing marks lined up correct if the timing is off it will back fire either out the air filter or exhaulst ..

check ur plug wires they might be mismatched ...joe

try replacing the throttle position sensor

chech plugs and wires replace first. how many miles since a tune-up?

sounds like you have jumped a tooth on the timing if not timing out
