Fuel shutoff switches are inertial and they need a pretty strong jar before they will trip. They are meant to shut off the fuel during rollovers and collisions where there is a danger of fire.I would not suspect that at first. Since I started working with fuel injection in 1992 I have never seen one tripped on any vehicle. Do you know if you have spark?Have you verified fuel pressure? Keep in mind that the injectors are multiport meaning that the computer pulses all four of them at the same time.If something was wrong with this circuit you would also have no fuel to the engine. One simple test to check the fuel pump is to turn the ignition to the run position. You should hear the pump run for 3 to 5 seconds then shut off because the computer did not get a signal from one of the sensors to tell it the engine is turning over.

Refer to the vehicle owners manual for the location of fuel shut switch and its reset procedures if specified, otherwise you'll likely need a new fuel pump / sending unit, don't forget to change the fuel filter while you are at it, the fuel filter is located behind the rear axle ( passenger side ) , the vehicle repair manual is very helpful.

It should be in the trunk area on the right hand side facing the trunk. simply switch it back on.

My 2002 Dodge Dakota 4x4 will not start and it won't stay in park when starting

no engine size told, gas we now know GAS word but there are 4.
when did the truck LAST run perfect.? , last week, year, or decade?
is fuel bad and old 1gallon hints at old dead truck bring revived;, there is a story here.
does this truck have the IMMO option and key is bad? causing IMMO cut fuel in 3 seconds. Immobilizer? LAMP not happy????

2.5L, 3.9L & 5.9L , 4.7L Engine 3 transmissions used.
code 42RE; Trans. code 46RE and 45RFE

to fix any car the driveline there needs to be known and told.

1: check all fuses. if one blows and makes the network dead, (PCI dodge) modules can not communicate.
2; scan the PCm it will tell you 2 things. cluster can't communicate to PCM or TCM/transmission gross errors.

well cluster PRNDL errors means 2 things, cluster can not talk to PCM (network dead)_ or TCM'/ transmission errors, told with scan tool clear as day but nobody is looking or using lame $17 code reader not a real scan tool.

the network (PCI) in this car connect 10 module computer brains, in fact ALL of them and must not fail this network.

use a real scan tool and find what what is failing in minutes
a 2008 or newer tool is best, OBD2 (USA) real scan tool
beg /borrowed , rented, buy or loaners.

that is correct the battery needs to be good or 12v or rested at 12.6vdc or never below 10vdc. sure a battery charger may get the voltage to 12vdc, if lucky and battery cells not shorter, a 10amp charger is best at least
and charged for 4 to 8 hours first.

09 focus hit curb front passenger wheel bent inner tie rod car will not crank over all lights work as should

When you say will not crank over,do you mean it won't run or the starter won't turn the engine to start?
IF the starter is turning the engine BUT it won't start, look on the side panel forward of the passenger door under the glove compartment area, you will see a hole.put your finger in and push down on the fuel reset switch, the car should run now.

2001 Pontiac sunfire, 4 cyl. standard.won't start

Yes, it could be the Neutral safety switch. Try popping the clutch a few times. Push it in and let it pop out and make sure you have it in Neutral. Also, try jumping the vehicle. It is possible to have all the volts in the world and everything looks good but not have enough amperage in the battery due to a dead cell to crank the motor over.

my money would be on the coil cover, especially if it had been a long time since the last tune up. it is certainly worth trying, as this is part of a routine tune up anyways. good luck!

Replacing the timing belt and water pump on a 1995 toyota camry le 4 cyl. need to get the drive shaft pulley off. 1st, right or left hand thread on the pulley bolt? 2nd any easy way to get the bolt loose?

Threads are standard. I use a 1/2" drive breaker bar on the bolt. Position the bar so that if you turn it clockwise it will hit the ground or the car frame. Then I turn the ignition to start for just a moment, cranking the engine over with the starter which will loosen the bolt. DO NOT let anyone hold the bar or stand anywhere near it if you try this technique. I have done it many times with no problems.

New starter

Was there any shimms between starter and engine block, where it bolts up? If there was they need to be put back in. Sounds to me that the starter is to close to the block, and the teeth on the starter drive are not engaging the flywheel. If there was none get some and try it, any auto parts sell them they come in differnt sizes in thousands of an inch. You should be able to buy them in a package.

02 pontiac sunfire won't crank at random times

Hi, I had the same problem with my girlfriend's 97' sunfire, it wouldn't start so I jumped the starter terminals which I think screwed it up even more (causing the theftlock light to come on). It turns out this is a common problem that can be solved by hooking up a GM Tech2 scanner, going under "body" codes, and following the instructions for bypassing the PASS LOCK SOLENOID. Hope you find this helpful, Byron
