2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with hemi. AC intermittently stops blowing

At times AC will not blow after cranking truck if on/off switch is left in off position. After about 10-15 minutes of drive time, blower starts if switch is in highest blowing position. After continued drive time, AC intermittently stops blowing but cold air can be felt at vents. When blower turns on, AC is very cold and blower has great power. What causes this? Had a mechanic check and clean all connections, AC and blower worked correctly for a few days, then back to the same problem.

If I turn AC off or down, blower motor will not come back on when I crank the truck the next time, until about 20 minutes of drive time. It has been suggested to replace the AC relay / and or blower motor relay in the underhood fuse box. Should I start there?

Sounds like the blower motor or the connection to it is failing.Next time it stops give the area below the glove compartment a good whack,if the blower does anything, change it.

SOURCE: ac will not blow thru ac vents, only thru defrost vents.

if vent doors are operated by vacuum check for loose or broken vacuum hoses in the engine compartment , or check the fuse box for any ac/heat fuses if it is a electricaly controoled system

SOURCE: 2000 Dodge RAM no HEAT/ New heater core / AC evap.

There is a actuator on the right side of your leg while sitting in the drivers seat under the dash. It has a plastic rod for actuation manually actuate this diverter and should be the problem.

SOURCE: ac does not blow thru dash vents very hard just a

Dodges have issues with the plenum door actuators. You can read online for more information. Sounds like your plenum door either stopped where it was or went to a default ( closed) position. The plenum door mixes the air and moves to allow the desired temp air to pass thru it.
I think you can see the tip of the actuator shaft sticking down vertically from the bottom of the plenum box, just to the right of the transmission hump, where the passengers left toes would be. Most likely you will have to remove the complete plenum for repair. ( pain in the a**). Good luck.

Why does my AC blower motor work intermittently?

Had the same problem, You Need a volt meter and need to "Know How to Use It" to fine this one.
Take readings at the motor connector when it is working right and write them down on paper, when it stops working again, take the readings again. If they are the same look toward the motor, if they are different look toward the switch and wiring, again using voltage meter readings, Mine was a connector pin that was now "clicked" in properly.
Intermittent electrical problems can make you feel like your a blind man trying to catch a stray dog.
good luck

VENTS MAY NOT BE OPENING PROPERLY. I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND THE BLOWER WAS FINE. THE SWITCH WAS FINE IT WAS AN INTERNAL PROBLEM WITH THE VENT MECHANISM.

Dodge Ram AC not blowing cold

By pass both pressure switches one at a time with small wire or a paper clip. If comperssor kicks on replace the swich that you bypassed.
if not it could be the fan clutch ot the compressor. Compressor runs about $400.00

Can i0w 40 oil oppose to 5w 20 that is recommended in a 2007 dodge ram 1500 with hemi?

do not use 10W-40W, it will starve the engine rod and main bearings, use the 5W-20W as recommended, also thicker oils can blow the oil filter off, seen it a number of times.

Blower motor makes loud noise when on high

I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 with the same problem, vibrating blow fan when on high, pulled the blower fan out and found a piece of the hinge from the recirculation door and felt the recirculation door sitting up on the vent of its hinge. Crappy engineering once again.

The horn keeps going off what could be wrong

It could be the horn switch on the steering column. Disconnect the harness coming from the steering column at the bottom when the horn is blowing, if that stops the horn then the problem is the switch below the steering wheel
