the most common cause of this in your Ford based on my dealer related repairs would be a part called the rotating ribbon contact (Ford refers to this part as the Clock-Spring contact.) that connects the steering wheel airbag to the steering column wiring, this contact coils and uncoils as the wheel is turned left and right and makes a solid connection to all steering wheel mounted components and controls. To change this part you must dis-arm the airbag and remove the steering wheel, if u do this repair yourself it is very important that u dis-arm the SRS system before starting work, this can be done by disconnecting the battery for 1 hour.

I'm assuming all of the brake lights are on? If so there is a brake light switch located way up under the dash that hits on the arm for your brake pedal. If this is not "closed" when the pedal is up (not depressed), your brake lights will stay on. It is adjustable.

****! I HATE it when that happens,.
Seriously -- If you go to your local dealer's parts department,. they can pull up a schemata on that,. just talk & be nice as they are in the business of charging for work,. not giving away information - but being nice always helps!
