Any help is appreciated as to what I have to replace. Also is it ok to continue driving this for the time being until I get this fixed. thanks

    location of solenoid

  • Anonymous Mar 17, 2014

I understand this has to do with emissions purge. I replaced gas cap... no luck. I had it checked by the dealership, and the stated they noticed moisture in the lines when inspected. Should I replace both the NVLD pump and Solenoid?... or just one or the other? Where are these located? How difficult will it be to do do myself, or should I just have a mechanic do it? How much time should it take? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well.

DTC P0446 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent System Performance

The vehicle control module (VCM) monitors the performance of the evaporative emission (EVAP) system by applying a predetermined level of vacuum to the EVAP system and monitors the vacuum decay rate. The VCM sets this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) if the vacuum decay rate is more than a predetermined value. The VCM monitors the amount of vacuum and the amount of pressure in the EVAP system by monitoring the fuel tank pressure sensor. For this DTC, the VCM turns ON both the EVAP purge valve and the EVAP vent valve when the Conditions for Running the DTC are met. This applies an engine vacuum to a closed EVAP system. The VCM turns OFF both the EVAP purge valve and the EVAP vent valve when the system reaches a correct amount of vacuum. The EVAP system should quickly RELEASE the vacuum in the EVAP system with the EVAP purge valve OFF and the EVAP vent valve OFF (open). This test indicates a blocked or restricted EVAP vent path if the EVAP system fails to release the vacuum quickly enough.

2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 Diagnostic code P0442 repair?

Usually this is a loose or improperly sealing gas cap. The code will clear out (iirc requires 3 starts from cold) or get your local autoparts store to clear it for you. Gas cap is easiest and cheapest thing to try. It can also be a leaky evaporation canister, leaky vacuum hose, leaky fuel filler hose...etc. basically as part of the test cycle it checks to see if the evaporation system holds a specific vacuum for a specific time. Yours failed the test.

On the 2011 silverado 1500 what causes the check engine light to come on simultaneously with the traction control light(and stays on),then the warnings flash first"service traction control", then,"ser

I know this sounds unrelated but, reset the light and tighten down the gas cap, or buy another gas cap.

I just helped a friend fix his truck that did everything you have stated. (However his was a Toyota)

How do you get change engine oil to disapper?

2002 to 2006 Chevrolet Silverado
  • Insert your key into the ignition, and turn it to position "A" (Run/On) without cranking the engine.

  • Depress the gas pedal three times within five seconds. The "Change Oil" message will begin to flash.
  • Turn the ignition to position "A" (Lock/Off) once the light stops flashing (about 10 seconds).

Got numerous "tighten gas cap" messages. finally

computer is seeing a large evap leak. most common cause is gas cap left loose this is why it is throwing up that message. since you have already done that we know there is a leak somewhere else. look underr vehicle and should see a black rectangular box close to gas tank this is the evap canister check the lines hooked to this and just do a visual inspection of hoses see if one has come off. may need to have it checked out we have a machine that hooks into system and pressurizes with "smoke" the smoke leaks out of the problem area and helps diagnose .

Looking for location of iat sensor

I am not too familiar with this engine, but iat's are usually somewhere between the airbox and throttle body, I know on older gm trucks it's in the airbox. You should see a two wire connector.
