Just purchased a 1999 vanden plas, only had 3 days the coolant low light came on and we added yellow coolant, then after driving 50 miles teh check eng light came on, could this be from the coolant? No message except for coolant low afte we drained the coolant and replaced with drx con???
My experience with a 2003 Vanden Plas was similar. Leak was present in highest cooling line at the transmission. Transmission was not being cooled sufficiently and ultimately failed. I recommend you have this checked at reputable transmission shop. Cost at independent shop is less than half of Jaguar will charge.
Good luck!

HOW DO YOU RESET CHEGK ENGINE LIGHT

My check engine light on my 1996 Vanden Plas stays on constantly, beginning on my way home from the dealer from whom I purchased the car in 2000. One Jag mechanic said I needed 02 sensors and a catalytic converter....this after only 40,000 miles. I don't think so! I've been running the car with the check engine light on for 35,000 miles now, and I don't see where it has made any difference...except that if something should happen that actually activates the light for a reason, I would never know about it since the light is always on.
