1985 cadillac fleetwood V8 4.1 blows cold air out but no heat

Brand new radiator and thermostat, gaskets etc. had everything working fine and drove more than 800km but one hose was worn and coolant leak from worn hose caused coolant to leak out and engine overheat while driving home. I replaced the hose and coolant, engine runs ok and return line heats up and overflow is functioning ok but still blows cold air inside the car. What should I check next? Thermostat, heater core? Not sure what to do next.

If you had heat before the problem than there is probably air still in the system . dont know your motor set-up , but it might have a bleed valve on the thermostat housing or a bypass line . if not , start the car and let it warm up ......in the mean time take the upper radiator hose off @ the radiator . When it heats up to normal temp , the coolant should flow out of the hose . that will tell you that the thermostat is opening , and it will also get the air out of the system @ the same time . As soon as it starts to flow , hook the hose back up and tighten . refill the cooling system back to the full line , than check for heat
GM is bad about getting air trapped in the system .

My 1996 Cadillac fleetwood had a leacing radiator so I changed it and now it won't stop overheating any tips

Make sure that the thermostat is working properly. It is a good idea to change the thermostat when you change a radiator. How long does it take to overheat? You can leave the radiator cap off, start the car and wait for it to heat up and see if the fluid is pushed into the radiator. If not and the car overheats then you know that the thermostat is bad.

I have a 1991 Cadillac deville, and when I'm idling, my heat blows hot,but when I start driving down the interstate, it blows cold. I just put a new thermostat in it.

Its possible you've installed the thermostat upside down. If this is not the case, then I think you've got an air bubble in your cooling system. It could work itself out or while the engine is cooled down, you can open the radiator cap and see if its at all low on coolant.

Heat stops blowing with increased rpm.

I would say that the replacement radiator has blocked cores and is restricting the flow at rpms. Even with a new core the top hose will be hot and the bottom will be quite warm to the touch as there is never 100% transfer of heat during the length of the cores. When a radiator is left for a period of time Assuming it was out of the vehicle the cores block up when the mud in the radiator dries out It has always been good practice to remove the radiator and keep it full of water if you want to use it in the future. So the answer to this problem is a new (brand new) radiator.

I have a 92 Acura Legend L V6 engine. My acura had been running hot until I put a brand new radiator on it, I drove the car for appro 40 miles one way and back, still didn't run hot. The car heater...

Thermostat improperly installed. (backwards) Or possibly you could have a blown head gasket and a bad thermostat at the same time. The head gasket could be letting exhaust gasses into the cooling system. A bad (stuck open) thermostat could "mask" this problem by allowing the coolant to circulate through the radiator when it is not supposed to. Thus, installing a new thermostat would trap the exhaust gasses in the cylinder head and cause the overheating.

The heater in a 1996 cadillac fleetwood does not blow hot air when engine is idling, it is just warm, when the weather is very cold, (below 25 degrees.) when it is not this cold it seems to work...

I am guessing you have not changed your thermostat from a summer one to a winter one. If this is the case you need to put a 195 degree thermostat in to replace the 165 degree summer one. Let me know. Thanks.
