To put down the convertible rag top on the 2000 Mustang GT there is a button on the middle console behind cup holders. A month ago I press the button and the rag top starts to go back and then slowly stops like the motor or pump is running out of hydralic pressure to fully pull back the rag top. Now it doesn't pull back at all. Is there a common fix or maintenance issue for this? If it is hydralic where do i look for the fluid level? How do I access this, from under car or behind back seat? please help. Thanks in advance!

You are probably low on fluid.
Behind the rear seat is your motor/pump/reservoir combination.
With the top down, fill the reservoir to overflowing with ATF.
Cycle the system a few times and repeat.
Do this till the reservoir will take no more fluid.
Check the lines and cylinders for leaks. The fluid must be going somewhere.
If you replace any lines or cylinders, always do them in pairs.

I had the same problem with my 95 GT. You may have a leak in your system (motor, lines, cylinders). It seems there just isnt enough fluid to push the top up. I think Ford used the same system for 01 also. I had to replace the hydraulic cylinder that pushes the top up. My fluid leaked out because one of the cylinders was bad. This may be the problem. Located the motor and look for leaks.

I've had a similar problem with my Mustang. What they did was replace the switch. I don't believe they come with 2 motors. But I would definitely check the wires and look for a loose wire that goes to the down relay. If you get a wiring diagram in the owner's manual, or even a repair manual, you should be able to find which wire.
