1999 Ford Ranger air won't blow out of vents, defrost, or floor

When I turn the knob to A/C it makes the sound like it's fixing to cool the air but no air comes out. It doesn't matter what setting it is on no air will come out anywhere. It sounds like it always does when I turn the dial to the different settings but no air comes out.

SOUNDS AS THOUGH YOU HAVE A BLEND DOOR STUCK CLOSED IN YOU HEATER / AC SYSTEM SOMEWHERE. CHECK THE VACUUM MOTORS THAT OPERATE YOUR BLEND DOORS ON THE SYSTEM.

The ac on my 1998 ford ranger only blows out the defrost vent and floor vent. How do I fix it?

Almost sounds like the actuators are inop. depending on which style you have, some are electrical motors and some are vacuum. These control the mode doors which move to deflect air to various vents.

My 03 Ford ranger's air conditioner blow cold air but it will only blow on defrost, it wont blow out of the vents

your controls for floor, vent.defrost ect. is in default mode due to a loss of vacuum.
you need to inspect vacuum lines for being lose cracked,or disconnected.hose will run from engine
intake manifold through firewall into the dash.i'd start at intake manifold looking for bad hose

My temperature control knobs will not let me turn on the cool vent or air conditioner-No matter where I turn the knob, hot air blows out. What should I check?

sounds like you have a blend air door problem or a a/c system problem, need to check both, you can check the blend air real easy, turn the key on, lay down on the passanger side floor and look up behind the dash, you should a white colored square box in your face, will have wires going to it, turn the temp control back and forth and see if the shaft on the blend air door motor is turning, you will notice any problems with it like sticking, binding, weired sounds coming from the motor, if that checks out good then you might want to check uot your a/c system, could be low on freon or have a component failure which will not turn the a/c on and blow cool air.

I had a problem with my 2000 ranger when I bought it. Air was coming out of defroster vents. Check for a vacuum hose that may be off under the hood. It uses vacuum to open the vents.

Problem with air not coming out of vents.

Check for a vacum leak from the engine to the a/c.The color of the hose is black. Also check if the heater control valve hose is unplugged. If you have vacuum the it sounds like the door for the vent/floor/defrost is broken.

Heater/Air air will blow out of defrost and floor vents but not dash vents

it sounds like you had the same problem I had a while back. There is a couple of "doors" on the blower motor that sometimes get stuck or broken, I took my jeep into an offroad shop and they fixed it with spare parts. They assured me that even if you took it to the dealer it's only like a 15-30$ part but it's the shop time that will kill you.
