Aftermarket fuel pump on a chevy silverado

I reciently replaced a bad fuel pump on my truck with an aftermarket fuel pump. After only a few months my truck is dying again. turns out if i wiggle the black conecter on top of the fuel pump it will start but die shortly after. that connecter doesnt seem to be too stable. Seems kind of loose. Is this common among this brand of pump and if so can it be fixed. Please don't say "replace pump with gm factory pump."

Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.

SOURCE: Truck starts then dies gm

When your vehicles stalls, check to see if you also loose other indicators as well. Check your indicator lamps. If you have lost all power, this may indicate you have loose or corroded connections from your battery. Im sure you checked your battery already. However, a common mistake people only check the voltage. You also need to check to ensure your battery has a proper/solid ground to chassis. Sometimes these come loose and/or corroded. Clean your battery terminals and battery cables really good. They all should be shiny. Tighten them firmly when you reinstall. Try and start again. Sound to easy, but it has solved many issues with the problem your having. Hope this helps.

Have a helper with you; have the helper crawl under the truck under the fuel tank. Turn the key to RUN and have the helper check for any sounds coming from the tank. If there are no sounds, then something is knocking the pumps out.

Truck cuts off while driving. I replaced the fuel pump a few months ago. if i wiggle the wire harness it will restart

I have seen this and took me a long time to figure it out. The problem I have found was inside the plug on the wiring harness to the fuel pump. You can't see it unless you take the plug apart and it may be corroded inside. I don't know if this is your problem but check to see if you have power there and wiggle the wiring to see if it cuts out. Hope this helps.

A common problem is if the fuel pressure regulator leaks internally. This causes fuel pressure to bleed down over time and makes it hard to start the vehicle if it has been sitting for usually more than a few hours. Sounds like that could be what you are dealing with.

I would just like to ask what brand of pump you are replacing it with, as all of the aftermarket pumps for those trucks (GM) have been producing alot of defects lately my suggestion pay a few more bucks and get a bosch pump, I manage a part store and have seen too many of them come back defective the only cure was a good bosch pump

1997 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 will not start. Getting spark checked all fuses, changed rotar - spark plug wires,

Have you checked the fuel pressure? Fuel pumps are a common failure item on those trucks. Pick up a cheap fuel pressure gauge and hook it up to the shrader valve on the fuel rail. With the ignition on and you should have 55-65psi. Even if it's a few psi below spec it could stop the engine from firing.Once you determine the fuel pressure isn't adequate make sure you have a good power and ground at the fuel pump. If that checks out, time for a new fuel pump module. I recommend only replacing it with an AC delco unit, I've heard bad stories about aftermarket replacements.
You could also spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid in the throttle body and crank the engine over. If it runs for a few seconds after spraying starting fluid in you know you have a fuel delivery problem.

1995 Chevy 1/2 ton v6 starts then dies

The fuel pump inside the fuel tank might have a bad armeture or brush failure. Have someone crank the engine with the key inside the vehicle while holding foot on brake pedal and e-brake on.
Take a large hammer and bang on the bottom of the fuel tank while the engine is cranking. This should wake up the pump. This is only a temp. fix if the truck starts. That was a sign that the pump has failed and should be replaced.
Good Luck.

Where can i find fuel filter on 2004 silverado?

i own a 2004 chevy z71. general motors did not put an external fuel filter on these trucks in 2004. EPA was trying to get them to do things with as few connectons on the fuel system as possible so there wouldn't be as many places to leak!!!! the fuel filter is built into the fuel pump/sender unit. it is all one piece design you cant even see the filter whith the pump removed you have to change the complete pump assy. i recomend using an oem part from you chevy dealer. parts house pumps dont usually last that long. i work at a carquest and we get bad pumps back alot they dont usually last but about 3 months

1996 Chevy Silverado 1500 Starting Problems

Just from what you said it sounds like your vehicle might not be holding its residual pressure which means after you turn a vehicle off, your fuel injection system should hold a certain amount of pressure in the system, but if that pressure drops to fast your vehicle may have a hard time starting. Things to look for when you lose fuel pressure is the fuel pressure regulator may be leaking, fuel pump check valve, leaky fuel injector or they maybe a small leak in one of the fuel lines. I only suggested this cause i had a car with the similar problem.
