SOURCE: where is crankshaft sensor on 99 kia sportage?

The crankshaft pos. sensor is located on the left "driver" side of the engine on the bellhousing and is retained by a single 10mm bolt. The sensor may be tight,be sure to twist as you pull so that it doesnt break off in the bottom end.

SOURCE: 2002 kia sportage airbag light flashing 1 -3 code,

first thing to check, how is your battery? Are the battery posts clean? next check your fuses. replace as needed. sometimes if an aftermarket stereo has been added, the wront power cord may have been splice. need to get the exact coce and find out what it means. i have never heard of a 1-3 code, usualy there are in the form of T0222 or T444 or something close to that.
hope this helps a bit, the actual error code would help quite a bit

How to install a serpentine belt on a 2001 Volkswagen Passat

there are 15 serpentine diagrams for the belt on vw engines to 2001
some have no ac , power steering etc
need engine size
you could try this the grooves are for driving pulleys so any grooved pulley it has to go around
flat pulleys run on the back of the belt so they will be idler pulleys
start at the crank and work to the left if there is a flat pulley between two grooved pulleys the back goes around it and so on

Where is the tensioner pulley located on a 2011 Kia Sorento

Remove any items that may hinder you from looking at the drive belt and all pulleys that hooked up to it. The tensioner pulley is different from other pulleys as it has no grooves on it. It looked just like a roller with flat outer surface. It pushes on the flat side of the belt (compared to the grooved side -as other pulleys did). It is spring loaded and can be de-tensioned by moving it in the reverse direction of its push. If you are looking the TIMING BELT tensioner, then more things have to come off the engine before you could get to it.

I have an 89 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder and I need to know what belt this is.

your photo is not good so I will give a generic answer
it is the drive belt for the accessories on the engine ( water pump, alternator .ac compressor ,power steering pump
if it "V" shaped it is a V belt
if it is many grooved it is a serpentine belt
the difference is that "V" belts only flex around a pulley where serpentine (grooved ) belts have the grooves around some grooved pulleys and the back runs around flat pulleys
it is not a timing belt

Causes of serpentine belt tensioner failure

seized bearing on one of the units being driven
incorrect fittment of the belt where the back of the belt is running over grooves and the grooves in the belt are running over flat surfaced pulleys

What is the pattern of the front drive belt

an engine /vehicle model with information of power steering and ac fitment would help. Basically the grooves in the belt go into the grooves of the pulley and any idlers run on the back ( flat) part of the belt. If you have grooves in the belt running over a flat idler pulley then the belt is fitted wrong.

here is the one i see on the FSM.

my gates belts all come with a manual. RTM?
if you buy the belt at a dealer they assume you have the FSM.
right?
FSM, install, steps
  1. Install the oil pump pulley. Tighten the nut to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  2. Install the crankshaft timing pulley. Align the pulley set key with the key groove of the pulley. Slide on the pulley facing the flange side inward.
  3. Install the No. 2 idler pulley and tighten the mounting bolt to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm). Be sure that the pulley moves smoothly.
  4. Install the No. 1 idler pulley with the bolt and the tension spring. Pry the pulley toward the left as far as it will go and tighten the bolt. Make sure that the pulley moves smoothly.
  5. Temporarily install the timing belt. Using the crankshaft pulley bolt, turn the crankshaft and position the key groove of the crankshaft timing pulley upward. If reusing the timing belt, align the points marked during removal.
  6. Install the timing belt on the crankshaft timing pulley, oil pump pulley, No. 1 idler pulley, water pump pulley and the No. 2 idler pulley.
  7. Install the timing belt guide.
  8. Install the lower (No. 1) timing belt cover and new gasket with the 4 bolts.
  9. Align the crankshaft pulley set key with the pulley key groove. Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley and bolt.
  10. Align the camshaft knock pin with the groove of the pulley, and slide the timing pulley onto the camshaft with the plate washer and set bolt.
  11. Tighten the pulley set bolt to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  12. Turn the crankshaft pulley and align the 0 mark on the lower (No. 1) timing belt cover.
  13. Finish installing the timing belt and check the valve timing, as follows:
    1. If reusing the old timing belt, align the matchmarks made previously and install the timing belt onto the camshaft pulley.
    2. Align the marks on the timing belt with the marks on the camshaft pulley.
    3. Loosen the No. 1 idler pulley set bolt 1 / 2 turn.
    4. Turn the crankshaft pulley 2 complete revolutions TDC to TDC. ALWAYS turn the crankshaft CLOCKWISE. Check that the pulleys are still in alignment with the timing marks.
    5. If the No. 1 idler pulley uses a green tension spring, slowly turn the crankshaft pulley 1 7 / 8 revolutions, and align its groove with the mark at 45 degrees BTDC (for the No. 1 cylinder) of the No. 1 timing belt cover.
    6. Tighten the No. 1 idler pulley set bolt to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm).
    7. Be sure there is belt tension between the crankshaft and camshaft timing pulleys.
  14. Place the right-hand engine mounting bracket in position but do not install the bolts.
  15. Install the upper (No. 2) timing cover with a new gasket(s).
  16. Remove the engine crankshaft pulley bolt and pulley.
  17. Using SST 09249-63010, or equivalent, install the mounting bolts for the right-hand mounting bracket. Tighten the mounting bolts to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm).
  18. Align the crankshaft pulley set key with the pulley key groove. Install the pulley. Tighten the pulley bolt to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm).
  19. Install the spark plugs.
  20. Install the right-hand mounting insulator, as follows:
    1. Attach the mounting insulator to the body and mounting bracket with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts.
    2. Tighten the 3 bolts to hold the mounting insulator to the body. Tighten the bolts to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm).
    3. Tighten the 2 nuts and bolt to hold the mounting insulator to the mounting bracket. Tighten the bolt to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm) and the nut to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm).
  21. Install and adjust the power steering pump drive belt.
  22. Install the right-hand engine undercover.
  23. Install the right front wheel.
  24. Lower the engine.
  25. If equipped, install the ABS actuator.
  26. Install the alternator and alternator bracket.
  27. Install the wiring harness bracket for the DLC1.
  28. Install the power steering reservoir bracket and reservoir.
  29. Connect the negative battery cable.
  30. Start the engine and check the timing.

step 13.4 is never to be skipped. ask why., most do. and it fails.

What would make a belt fall off a 2007 ford fussion or split the belt into?

The split is puzzling. But for falling off, the tensioner must be weak. The pulleys can wobble if the bearings in their center is bad, you will be able to feel roughness.

The tensioner arm is spring loaded. Sometimes there is a wear bar for judging if a belt is stretched. No matter how strong a tensioner spring is, if the belt has stretched too far, there is nothing you can do but replace the belt.

Check the pulley grooves and count them. Some Alternator pulleys have 8 grooves and some have 6 grooves. While the flat faced pulleys are often wider than necessary, the grooved pulleys can quickly cut a wider belt into 2 belts. The Alternator grooves must match the number of grooves on the crankshaft.

Nned to know how to set the cam and engine timing

Start with crankshaft pulley. At the rear of the pulley is a notch. Align it with the mark on the oil pump.(No 2 piston is at TDC) There is also a groove on the pulley that needs to be aligned with the white dots on the cambelt. The lettering on the belt must be readable as viewed from the front of the vehicle.
(When seated in the vehicle the RH bank of the engine is on the RH side of the vehicle.Keep this in mind)
At the front of the camshaft pulley is a groove. Rotate the RH bank camshaft pulley to align this groove with the mark on the cylinder head cover. On the cambelt is a white line. This must also align with these marks. Do the same on the LH bank. To be sure the cams are now correctly aligned remove the cylinder head cover. On the camshaft drive gears the letters RI(Right intake) and RE(Right exhaust) will be at the top and readable for the RH bank. (For the LH bank it will be LI and LE) Reinstall the tensioner and rotate the crankshaft with a wrench to make sure there is no unintentional mechanical contact.
