SOURCE: Fuel pump on 64 Impala is pumping but no gas from tank.

Ground wire in the tank won't do you any good,You can hook a low pressure air line to the fuel line under the hood and blow the clog back into the tank and then run an inline filter as close to the tank as possible. That way the filter will catch the clog and you can just replace the filter when that happens.

You will have to drop the tank. Soak the bolts on the straps with a penetrating fluid before you start.

SOURCE: how to replace fuel pump on 2002 impala

My 2002 Impala has the panel in the trunk. I took the panel off and the fuel pump is accessible. I will probably attempt to replace the fuel pump myself since the fuel gauge does not work anymore and the dealership indicated that the problem was the fuel level float connected to the fuel pump.

Does anyone know if there is anything special I need to do prior to replacing the fuel pump, such as draining the fuel, etc...? I was planning to at least run the car until I was near empty.

FYI, here is a link to a set of videos about replacing fuel pumps. It's a set of 13 short video clips. http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-repair-or-replace-a-fuel-pump-226058/

SOURCE: i need to remove the fuel pump from my 99 chevy

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2. Drain the fuel tank.
  3. Support the fuel tank.
    1. Remove or disconnect the following:
    2. Negative battery cable
    • Filler neck from the tank
    • Shield from tank and tank straps
    • Fuel lines and vapor hose from pump
    • Electrical connection from fuel pump
    • Fuel tank
    • Fuel pump/sending unit assembly by turning the locking ring (located on top of the fuel tank) counterclockwise using a spanner wrench
    • Fuel pump from the fuel lever sending device
  • To install:
    Install or connect the following:
    • Fuel pump in tank with new seal around opening

NOTE The fuel pump strainer must be in a horizontal position when the fuel sender is installed in the tank. When installing the sender assembly, make sure that the fuel pump strainer does not block full travel of the float arm.

    • Tank and connect fuel lines and vapor hose
    • Tank to the frame. Torque the fasteners to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
    • Shield
    • Fuel filler neck and clamp
    • Negative battery cable
    1. Refill the tank.
    2. Run the engine and check for leaks.

Access panel in the trunk for fuel pump on 2005 impala?

Not sure if there is one. My '05 Buick Century does not have an access panel. Pull back the carpet in the trunk and look for a round or oval panel with screws. It would be right over the top of the fuel tank, right over where the pump module sits in the tank-where the fuel lines come out of the tank-that is where the module is.
If there is no access panel, it is a bit harder to change out the pump. You have to remove the gas tank, and pull it from under the vehicle. It was not that difficult on my Century-I did it on my driveway. Look at a repair manual for the complete procedure.

How long would it take the average person to install a fuel pump in a 2002 chevy impala that has a trunk pocket fuel compartment and how long to install fuel pump if you dont have the easier access trunk...

If you have a panel to open for access to the pump you should be done in about an hour as there is not much to remove and attach for the Fuel Pump as electric is one connector and the port for fuel. If you have to remove the Fuel tank that depends on what you have available for tools and technical prowess. If you don't have at least a Floor Jack get one and an ATV/Motorcycle Jack if you have a friend who uses one or have your own is better. Use the Jack to support the Fuel Tank as you remove the Fasteners from the tank and uncouple the Wiring Harness from the Tank. From there you can lower it, service the pump, and put the whole thing right back in. At this point make sure you clean all the ground connections and if you don't have some purchase a container of "Anti-Seize" Copper which will improved conductivity and seal the connections from moisture contamination.

1999 Cadillac Deville - How to replace fuel pump? Fuse is OK and fuel pump does not run. Is fuel pump accessible through trunk or must you drop tank? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello,

Unfortunetly Cadillac does not have an access panel for fuel pump access until the newer years. You will need to drop the tank. Also, don't let the tank come slamming to the ground, make sure you take it slow so you dont dammage the lines to the sending unit.

    Good Luck!

Do i need to drop the fuel tank in my 1991 toyota corolla to replace the fuel pump?

Unless there is an access panel above the fuel pump, yes you will have to drop the fuel tank. Look at the location of the fuel tank and how that corresponds to the vehicle. This will tell you where to look for an access panel. If you must drop the tank, then siphon as much fuel as possible out of the tank before removing it. You can purchase a very inexpensive hand pump at most auto parts stores.
