Same problem but another forum suggested that the key in their 98 GC can be removed one click past the off position in the ACC on position.
Sure enough, checked mine and found the batt drain was due to the key switch being left in ACC and then being removed. Key shouldn't come out there but it does. I screwed a small metal bracket to stop the key switch from going to ACC on. Problem solved.

I think I have found the problem. When I wiggle the ignition switch the turn signals and radio go on and off so I feel the issue is in the ignition switch. From what I understand the actual electronics for the switch are at the base of the sterring column behind the lower dash panel and is connected by a rod that may need adjusting.

Bare or burned wire, most likely battery cable or alternator cable near exhaust system which might be making contact with a metal part somewhere, off and on, because of bumps, vibration, etc.

I have the same problem. Do not know cause but I remove large red 50 fuse in engine compartment fuse box, wait 15 sec and replace. Lock car and unlock. This seams to reset something and car is fine. This problems seams to appear when my battery is low.(?)

I agree with battery once dead, it will turn on the security system which will click until you reset it with the key in the door

fuse 8 40a supplies power to starter relay and ignition switch, to close the starter solenoid and engage the starter which draws directly from the battery. check to see that the starter relay is closing, if not ensure that the park neutral switch is not faulty (open circuit), it provides path to close relay (ground side) on the 85 - 86 terminals. if the starter relay does not close the starter will not run. if you have a spare relay swap out the relay for a quick fix attempt. hope this helps
