THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS OPERATED BY SWITCH, ELECTRIC MOTOR WITH SMALL GEARBOX PUTS IN AND OUT OF FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, THE MOTOR RUNS, CAN HEAR IT, HAVE NOT AS YET REMOVED IT TO CHECK IF THERE IS A FAULT WITH THIS SMALL UNITS GEARBOX, ITS JUST LIKE A WIPER MOTOR, I DO GET LOW RATIO TWO WHEEL DRIVE BUT ONLY ON REAR WHEELS, THE TRANSMISSION TO FRONT AXLE DOES NOT OPERATE IN EITHER HIGH or LOW ,PROPSHAFT DOES NOT TURN, I AM LUCKY TO HAVE MY OWN WORKSHOP FACILITY SO GETTING UNDERNEATH IS NOT A PROBLEM, NICE TO HEAR FROM ANYBODY WHO HAS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND OF COURSE APPRECIATE HELP FROM ANYBODY ELSE WORLDWIDE.

Try to find the fuse, if the fuse is ok try to remove the cable under the pump and reconnect them, if the pump still dosent work u need to buy a nes one and replace it.
By the way, start with check that u have power to the pump, buy a test lamp tp do that, you need to be two for testing that, one for pushing the switch and one to check the test-pamp.

If the sound is all the time, no matter what you are doing then it is the Transmission going bad. CV Joints, Wheel bearing will only make the noise when in rotation.. Also remember that this is a front wheel drive car, so it will throw you off thinking it is the wheel bearings or CV joints due to the front wheel drive

you have to replace bearing and hub as a unit.you have to remove remove brakes and caliper rotor set them aside dont disconnect brake line. get a piece of clothes rack wire to hold brake caliper .do not let it hang by brake hose. you got to remove hub nut. best way to do that is loosen it a litttle while tire still on weight of car keep wheel from turning .

PROBLEM SOLVED BY MYSELF, GEARBOX SENSOR HAD DIRTY CONNECTION, DRIVE TO FRONT AXLE NOW OK, BUT NOT DRIVING WHEELS, THIS IS DUE TO RUSTED VACUM PIPES RUSTED AWAY ON AUTOMATIC HUBS, BOTH BROKEN OFF DUE TO CORROSION, REPAIRED PIPE ENDS AT THE HUBS WITH DIFFICULTY, BOTH SIDES , BLEW OUT PIPES BACK UP THE LINE WITH AIR,THIS INCREASED THE VACUM, RECONNECTED RUBBER PIPES, THANKFULLY I NOW HAVE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AT THE TURN OF A SWITCH, TOOK ME MOST OF THE DAY, HOPE THIS INFO HELPS ANY ELSE.
