I figured out that the 6 bolts that hold the trim panel onto the end gate are all accessible from the inside of the truck. Once you have access, by disconnecting the wiper motor connection and plugging in the new motor you can open the door. To replace the wiper motor the window needs to come out. To remove the glass lower the window half way and remove the 2 bolts that hold it to the lift mechanism. Then the motor and mount can be removed.

I know this question is old, but I am responding so others with the same problem can see. I wired the Rear Window Motor Park Signal wire and the Rear Window Motor Speed Signal wire together and it completely bypassed the rear wiper motor. Now the window goes up and down. This doesn't fix the rear wiper motor, but you will be able to have access to it now that the window is out of the way

I made and album to show.

hello, well little info, you don't need to take the rear window out to get the rear window wiper motor out, got that in back on floor now, the problem i got is i still can't get the window down, i unplugged the motor and i run a wire from the white wire to the green and it did nothing ? still can't roll it down , now i'm thinking that i have to plug the motor in and cut the green and the white wires going the the motor ,before plug in, connect them together to see if the window will go down? one thing i don't understand is i got different colors in my xuv going to the motor, they are orange , black(bigger diameter wire) green and white(smaller diameter wire. Is the green and white the same as the green and yellow?tks

SOURCE: 2004 GMC Envoy XUV mid-gate window won't roll up

be sure the gate is fully closed or it will not roll up if it is firmly in place and still does not go up you will have to remove the cover and see if the actuator plastic has broken off from the switch, it also could be a bent rod and or the switch is bad. Check fuses as well just to be sure before going to all the other work to pull cover off. Hope this is helpful and thanks for using Fix-ya.

2004 Envoy - Rear window will not go up. Sensor says rear wiper obstruction. Is there any way to bypass the wiper sensor to get the window up? Thank you!

On some cars by winding down the rear window too far the wiper blades slip over the edge of the glass and hold the glass down when the window is trying to wind it up. Check and adjust the rest position of the wiper arm first. Try not to by pass a sensor as it will cause more problems for you . Instead fix the fault first.

Need to remove inner panel and check the gears. You can also disconnected the motor so your battery won't drain.

Gmc envoy 04, the gear shift slides up and down but the gear did not engage. another word, the xuv won't move

The shift cable probably has broken, usually the ring at the end breaks. Below is a diagram that shows the cable (it is item #7)

Rear window stuck down and the wiper motor is froozen in the up postion. So my computer thinks that the wiper is in the way and wont let me roll my rear window up

If you can't the the master switch at the driver door or the switch at its door to move the window then you need a new window motor. Chances are both switches are not bad.
Does the wiper move at all ? IF not then its either the switch or the motor. If it operates and just parks in the up position then its the parker switch.
