Whining noise while accelerating

It's been doing this noise for a while now, when I accelerate it makes like a whining noise, and once I'm at a steady speed I can barely hear it. When I start my car I can hear it a little bit for a few seconds then it dies down. It's only really when I'm picking up speed. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and how much it would be to fix ? I'm a student with a pretty low income.. Thanks !

SOURCE: Engine running really rough...whine sound when it isn't.

The run rough problem is due a cyl.mis firing,it becaused buy a bad plug, plug wire, coil,or even the ing.module. the servive eng.light flashing is warning you that you have a cyl.misfire that can cause damaget to your catltic converter if you continue to drive it.with may lead to why you think you have a exhaust problem,it may be colgged.

SOURCE: when i accelerate i hear a vibrating noise from

The vibration could be several things from a tire out of balance to a problem with the front drive axle on that side, CV joint bad or a wheel bearing bad. If the brakes only stick after you use the e-brake it could be a problem with the cable not releasing all the way.

1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse whining noise from the rear when accelerating

A whining noise during acceleration usually, is from the gear set, indicating the pinion is too close to the ring gear.
I believe the eclipse is a FWD car though. Could it be the transmission you are hearing?

My 52 mini suddenly started making a whining noise, its an automatic, i didnt get any any warning it ciasts fine and reverses but once you put your foot on the accelorater the whining noise slows the car...

Check your transmission fluid level, as recommended in the Owner's Manual. Also, if your car is equipped with power steering, check the fluid level in the power steering reserve.

If all fluids are at recommended levels, see if you can locate the noise. If it is in the engine compartment, try to determine if the noise is coming from any of the serpentine belt pulleys.

Sometimes the bearings on air injector pumps fail in higher-mileage vehicles, first causing a "whining" noise, and ultimately resulting in the serpentine belt "chirping" or squealing on acceleration. Best you can do is make sure all fluids are at recommended levels, then try to pinpoint the source of the whining noise for further diagnosis.

Hope that's helpful!.

Whining sound from under van only when i push the gas.

The serpentine belt is the most common cause for whining sound when accelerating, try to understand if noise is coming from serpentine belt.

Also check power steering belt under steering column, and also the rotor and chain, thei do not make whining noise , but can make noise when accelerating.

The belt is first suspect.
