The air temp actuator for the driver side probably needs to be replaced. mine is doing the same thing on a 2004 gmc sierra.

need to go to dealer to have HVAC module reprogramed. whenever diconnecting battery power on these vehicles you can connect a 9 volt battery between neg and pos to keep the memory in the computers. I am an master ase technician and 5 classes from gm world class tech.

you have a couple of problems first of all your drivers sd=ide heated heat pad is probably faulty, for your heating problem you may have to get the hvac doors recalibrated.

SOURCE: 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 - heater blows, but only cold air

Check coolant level. Check for heat at the heater hose going from water pump to heater core at firewall. Check to see that cable is moving coolant control valve from the closed to open position. Low mileage so it shouldn't be plugged heater core.

Testimonial: "You were absolutely correct. Low coolant level. Put in some 50/50 and we're nice and toasty now, but need to find out why coolant was so low. Thanks."

20005 gmc sierra hot on driver side

I had this happen on my 2004 also. I have the climate zone control module that allows for adjustment for driver or passenger temps. I had to cycle between hot and cold on the passenger side and switch it between defrost and feet, then power off everything for a long period of time using the power button on the control, this finally got the solenoid to become unstuck. If that doesn't work then you have to get into the heater/air ducts under passenger side, which is difficult, to manually unstick or replace the locked solenoid.

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra regular cab. 4.3 v6 The heater has only been blowing cold air. Checked coolant and replaced the thermostat. No change. AC worked fine this summer. Heat worked fine last...

sounds like you have a bad temperature door actuator. This is a motor that connects to the door and uses inputs from the sensor in itself and the heater control module to open the door from hot to cold. I does take some knowledge on recalibrating this actuator and installing it. if it isn't install correctly it could damage the new part, so just take care

Replaced the battery on a GMC Sierra 2005. Turned AC on, it cooled for about a minute and started blowing hot air on the driver side, the passenger side blows cold. What does replacing the battery have to...

you have taken the calibration out of sink. you will now have to remove battery power again for about 5 minutes. after this time reconnect the battery. then turn key to on position for 3 minutes but do not touch the heater control or temperature controls. This should allow the heater and ac system to recalibrate. once the 3 minutes is up turn key off and then back on and start truck.. Try your controls again and see what happens. if no change then dealer will have to reprogram the heater control calibration for you.

Had the same problem. It's the memory that's reversed. If you turn the heater on it will blow cold. Problem resolves itself after you crank the engine, turn off the ignition for a few seconds and then recrank.

Heater problems

Probably passenger temp actuator. Make sure connectors are fully seated on right I/P junction block. If they are, it's more than likely a faulty actuator. Dash pad and air distribution ductwork have to be removed to access actuator.

With AC on cold, Drivers air full hot & passenger side full Cold

that is a good possibilty, but before I pulled the trigger I would try this first. unhook the battery for 5 minutes, rehook it, now turn the key on, wait for 2 minutes, now start the truck and see if the doors now work. sometimes this works, its worth a try.
