I would say either the lock actuator is stuck or the latch is stuck.
In most cases you would need to get the door panel off to find out.

Drivers side door closed and will not open.

Remove inner door latch and try operating the rod manually (vice grips). If locked, spray everything inside the door with WD-40 or the like and try operating the lock.

I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan. This back door on the drivers side will not unlock. It started this winter and we thought the lock was frozen, but now that it is 65 out the door will still not unlock. What...

you will have to pull the inner panel off the door to look inside the panels to inspect the door latch to see if it may be seized or the lock mechanism is not moving due to broken parts,if the lock is not moving far enough you can reach in and manually unlock it.if the latch is seized you can spray it with penetrating oil and operate the release handle and try to force the latch open with a screw driver or something to open it.once open you can remove the latch and soak it in oil to try and free it up if not then just replace it.

Same thing happened with mine. It turned out that the power door lock motor went out. Since the handle or the switch can unlock the driver's door, both of these mechanisms are connected. When the door lock motor goes out it freezes in whatever position, it was last engaged.

I have a 98 jeep grand cherokee, and my driver side door lock is in the lock position and I can not shut my door. How do I release the lock?

Have you tried unlocking it with the key? If that does not work, try moving the latch with a scredriver, back into the open position. If the latch has broken internally you will need to remove the inner door panel and remove the latch assembly for visual inspection and replacement. You can get another latch at just about any scrapyard and key will not need to be changed to do this.

Power door is not delatching

there is a door lock actuator that has failed, it releases the latches so the door can open. you need to remove the door panel. unbolt the window and tape it as to hold the window up then remove the window regulator assembley then unbolt the lock actuator from the back side.

DOOR WON'T OPEN FROM INSIDE OF NISSAN ALTIMA 2002 ON DRIVER'S SIDE

There is a cable that attaches to the inside door latch release handle. The plastic that retains this cable is most likely broken. I have seen this before. If the retainer is not holding the cable sheath correctly, the entire cable moves when the handle is pulled and does not release the door latch.

Remove the door panel and inspect this cable. You will see 2 cables (one is for the door lock). If the plastic is broken, you will need a new interior handle assembly.

Hope this is helpful!!
