Are you saying it cranks good but won't start or the starter motor won't even crank?

If the starter motor won't even crank, have to check starter wi8ring circuits. If it cranks good but won't start, that is a different issue, then you have to check fuel--spark and compression. Go from there.

Any workshop manual will have this diagram available as all starter motors are wired the same way

There must be a connection between the battery terminal and the starter terminal, on the starter.
The soleniod contacts are probably welded together or the return spring is weak. Fit a new solinoid.

if you follow the positive (+) battery lead from the battery it goes onto the starter motor........chers.

It sounds like the ignition switch again, thats the only source for the starter solenoid to power up. I'd disconnect the power to the starter solenoid (ignintion input small wires, not the battery cables). Jumper the battery again, check for power on the solenoid for the ignition feed, if it has power then yes the ignition switch is bypassed somehow. I've seen issues with the back side of the connector going to the ignition switch where the wires are bare from being flexed, the insulation breaks and wires touch each other. Carefully check the condition of the wires going to the ignition switch, if good replace ignition switch again.

the solenoid will maje no noise or just a click if bad. if good you will hear the sound of the inner plunger retracting with a poping noise
jump the solenoid wire to the battery cable to the starter and see if it works
