Live wire sparked against my headunit

Check fuses & relays then trace wireing to make sure everything is plunged in and nothing is grounding out like a bear wire against another or touching metal

with everything turned off take live terminal off and touch it against the battery post and if there is a spark something is still on?

This is a simple engine to work on. Check for compression in the dead cylinder. If low or none, you found your problem....likely burnt exhaust valve.
If compression good, check injector for fuel spay or fuel delivery head for fuel delivery. With engine idling, crack each line nut at the fuel distributor and see if any fuel squirts out.

If so, check spark delivery by pulling lead to dead cylinder and install used/spare spark plug into plug lead. lay this against engine and run engine watching for spark at plug tip. Do not touch the plug or wire while engine running.

If no spark, check distributor cap for cracks inside. The electronics are primative on these so the above should get you close to the reason cylinder is not firing.

YOU SUPPOSE TO SEE A GOOD FAT BLUE SPARK.YOU COULD HAVE WEAK BAD COIL.BAD PLUG WIRE.

Inspection

Inspect for the correct routing of the spark plug wires. Improper routing may cause cross-firing. Inspect each wire for any signs of cranks or splits in the wire. Inspect each plug wire boot for tearing, piercing, arcing, carbon tracking or a corroded terminal.
If there is any corrosion, carbon tracking or arcing indicated on a plug wire boot or terminal, both the plug wire and component it was connected to should be replaced.

Removal & Installation

3.5L Engine

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
2. Remove the left side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
3. Remove the left side plug wires from the retaining clips.
4. Rotate the engine for access as follows:
   1. Set the parking brake.
   2. Shift the transaxle into neutral.
   3. Remove the engine mount strut bolts. Swing the engine mount struts aside.
   4. Install the Engine Tilt Strap J-41131.
   5. Pull on the engine in order to rotate the engine forward.
   6. Tighten the strap.
   
   
5. Remove the right side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
6. Remove the plug wires from the retaining clip.
7. Remove the spark wires from the ignition coils.
8. Remove the plug wire assembly from the engine.
   NOTE If you are replacing the spark plug wires, the spark plug wire conduit and retaining clips should be transferred to the replacement wires.
   

To install:

1. Install the right side plug wires to the ignition coils and then the spark plugs.
2. Install the spark plug wires to the retaining clip.
3. Rotate the engine back to the original position.
4. Install the left side spark plug wires to the ignition coils and then to the spark plugs.
5. Install the spark plug wires to the retaining clips.

3.9L Engine

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
2. Remove the intake manifold cover.
3. Remove the left side spark plug wires as follows:
   1. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
   2. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the ignition coil.
   3. Remove the left side spark plug wire clips from the intake manifold and heater inlet and outlet pipe.
   4. Remove the left side spark plug wire assembly.
   
   
4. If removing the right side spark plug wires, the engine must be rotated for access as follows:
   1. Set the parking brake.
   2. Shift the transaxle into neutral.
   3. Remove the engine mount strut bolts. Swing the engine mount struts aside.
   4. Install the Engine Tilt Strap J-41131.
   5. Pull on the engine in order to rotate the engine forward.
   6. Tighten the strap.
   
   
5. After rotating the engine, remove the right side spark plug wires as follows:
   1. Disconnect the right side spark plug wires from the spark plugs and ignition coil.
   
   
6. Remove the right side spark plug wire clip from the ignition coil bracket.
7. Remove the right side spark plug wire assembly.

To install:

1. Install the spark plug wire assembly.
2. Install the right side spark plug wire clip at the ignition coil bracket.
3. Connect the plug wires to the ignition coil and spark plugs.
4. If the engine was rotated for access, return the engine to the original position.
5. The remainder of the installation is the reverse order of removal.

you may have a loose connection in the wiring there may be a bare wire is touching something try moving the wires when it is dark you may see it sparking somewhere that will lead you to the problem......hope this helps.....cheers

hello there friend. sounds like your hitting your head against the wall. :)
engines only need a few things to run..your task is to determine what is missing...1, they need fuel, to checked this attach a fuel pressure guage to se if geting at least about 40psi (cant remember spec)..if you have fuel pressure, check for spark at spark plug...remove plug and attach wire to plug, grounding it out against engine block ..away from any engine wireing as it can send a voltage spike through system causing further damages...if you have fuel, and you have spark, you must then check to see if you have ai..compresion to be exacy..remove spark plug and crank engine over..see if you can hear air hufing in and out of cylinder..if you have a compression guage install it, your pressures shoudl be within 10% of each other across all cylidners. if not you may have an inernal engine failure..there are many more questions..when and why did it stop running, how was it running prior to failure, etc... is the engine oil saturated with fuel from leaking injectors? this could cause the rings to wash out and not build up compression...i hope thuis helps you out...

Check if you have spark at the spark plug. Go buy yourself one plug. Take any plug wire off plug in engine. Attach plug wire to new plug and touch a ground on engine with new plug threaded side. Have someone start engine and watch for spark. If spark exsist, look for fuel problem.

3.5L Engine

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
   NOTE Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn in order to release the boot. Pull on the spark plug boot only. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or the wire could be damaged.
2. Remove the intake manifold cover, if required.
3. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
4. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the ignition coil.
5. Remove the spark plug wire clips from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor bracket and the heater inlet and outlet pipe tab.
6. Remove the spark plug wire assembly.
7. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clips and remove the appropriate spark plug wire.
8. Disconnect the right side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
9. Disconnect the right side spark plugs from the ignition coils.
10. Remove the spark plug wire assembly.
11. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clip and remove the appropriate spark plug wire.

To install:

1. Install the spark plug wire assembly.
2. Connect the right side spark plugs to the ignition coils.
3. Connect the right side spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
4. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clip and install the appropriate spark plug wire.
5. Install the spark plug wire assembly.
6. Connect the left side spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
7. Connect the left side spark plug wires to the ignition coil.
8. Install the spark plug wire clips to the MAP sensor bracket and the heater inlet and outlet pipe tab.
9. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clips and install the appropriate spark plug wire.
10. Install the intake manifold cover, if required.

remove the bettery on the left side of car on the right side of car remove washer bottle remove spark plug wires and take of your spark plugs ( not an easy process hard to get to frame rail in the way)
