My car has two lights that have come on. 1 is a green square with an 'S' in the center that started flashing the other is a yellow check engine light. Any idea why they would come on?
Blinking S (sport shift mode indicator). Flashes in the event of a transmission fault or Transaxle Control Computer error of problem.
The s light might mean a problem with the transmission computer it is right next to the computer for the car under the carpet. does the car shift gears? if it don't the tcu is burned out ,it is a common problem for 91-93 accords
My 91 accords s light keeps blinking and when i drive its takes time to get up to speed. ive been told my sparkplugs need changed and new valve cover gaskets. Could you help me
I had a similar problem. My S light would flash and as mentioned above it's the tranny computer warning of a problem. Mine was caused by having get into the car by a plugged drain around my moon roof. this in turn allowed water to get into the car and soak into the carpet over the cars computers under the carpet passenger side. I used a large fan to dry it and cpu ....this fixed the flashing light. Next had my mechanic blow out the drain tubes of debris with a compressed air hose and I have been problem free since.
If ur sport trannie light, the green light wit the s in it, check your fluid level, u add it through the dipstick located at the front, right next to ur battery. if your check engine light, the yellow light, is flashing that normally is an emmisions problem that is massively effecting drivabily such as a cloged catalic converter. ur check engine light will not flash just stay on if it is a minor drivabily problem such as a bad sensor of some sort
Count the number of times the yellow light flashes.
A long flash for ten
A short flash for one
So two long and three short flashes is 23.
Get back to me with the yellow check engine number. That is your CEL (check engine light) CODE
Oh and the green S is for the sport setting. Their is a button on your shifter off to the side and bellow. Press that and the S should go off.
Oh ok. That changes things a little but. What you need to do then is pull up the carpet along the passanger floor. The ECU will be sitting their. The ECU will flash.
Just count the flashes the same way. If their is a break of more than 3 seconds between flashes its starting the second code.
I have to look up a flashing Green S. Only thing I can think of is maybe your transmission has gone into a safe mode.

I think the first order of business is the check engine light (orange one). Suggestion on how to get the codes were made above. Once you know the code, google it to know what system is acting up.

HI,
The green light with the 's' in the middle is the one that's flashing, the yellow one just came on and stayed on till I shut off the car.
That's what I thought too, I thought it was the sport button but it didn't make any difference when I pushed the button on the shift.
I am taking it to a mechanic tomorrow morning but he is not very familiar with this old car of mine..... I'll give him your feedback here and maybe that will help him figure out what's up.
I just don't want it to drop dead in the middle of the freeway.
Thanks for your help!!!
I'll look back here in a while.

My problem is exactly the same as Debra's. The "S" light came on, flashing and then a few minutes later the check engine light came on not flashing.
