There are 4 large wires at the front of the engine on the cylinder head, carefully remove them by twisting the rubber boots back and forth until they come off, under those are the spark plugs, u will need a 3/8" ratchet and a short socket extension with a 5/8" spark plug socket on it, put the socket over the plugs and remove them reinstall in reverse order, 10 minute job on an escort.

1998 ford escort will not start no spark at spark plug 1998 ford escort

hi you dont say which engine you have so will asume you have the twin cam zetec engine as it is the most prolific first you need to check your cambelt is ok as cambelt failures are all too common on this engine ,as you open the bonnet the upper cam cover is on the left held by two small bolts either 10 or 8 mm cant recall which undo these and remove cover and check condition of your belt
does it look loose are there any missing teeth off the belt if everything is ok here check the plug wires for resistance with a test meter set on ohms check either end with the probes for any high resistance change them if they do good luck

Hello. I want to change oil n spark plugs on my 1998 ford escort se nut not sure what type of oil and plugs it uses. Can you help me?

This info should be in your owners manual. This job, while relatively simple, does require special tools and has some hidden hazards. You will have to have a socket (and handle) and extension to fit your spark plug size ... you will need a feeler gage to set them. You will need a filter wrench, a catch basin and a socket the proper size to pull the oil pan plug. BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT REINSTALLING THE PLUGS THAT THEY DONT GET CROSS THREADED. One cross threaded plug will wipe out all savings you had hoped to achieve by doint this work yourself.

If you cannot find your owners manual ... the folks at the auto parts store can provide you with the proper parts and tools to do this job as well as some tips for the first time back yard mechanic.

Please dispose of the used oil in the proper manner consistent with environmental needs.

Thanks

How do i change spark plugs on a ford escort sport

start from the left hand side of the engine as you are facing it, take one out at a time this way you will not mix up the HT leads ok.
Take the lead off number one plug and unscrew the old plug anticlockwise with a socket that fits the sparkplug, once you have done that put the new one in and tighten up clockwise and put the lead back on and push down so you hear a click but do not tighten up to tight or you weill damage the treads on the plug. Just enough so you feel the pressure on the racket. then do the same with all of them.

I hope this help's?
