My speedometer stopped working in my 2005 gmc envoy and i need to know what to do

    I have the same problem with the speedometer. It stops working and occasionally starts working again after i restart the vehicle

    I have the same problem. It works when I start the car and by the first mile it registers nothing. At least I can tell my husband that I didn't do ANYTHING to it. Other people have had hte same issue.

    Mine says i'm going 120 when i'm going 60....:S

    i started driving and i was going about 25 and my speedometer said i was going 65.when i stopped it was stuck on 39 and then as i went faster it stuck even higher,so now it stays over 120.

The speedo is electronic, u will have to pull the unit out and send it to a GM authorized repair center like speed-o-tach inc.

When You say went out do You mean light on instrument panel? or there is no change in speed on odometer? With any luck it is just a fuse blown! Check your user manual to see if there is a fuse for odometer! and location. or it could be problem listed in website below!

I have a 2005 gmc emvoy and my speedometer stopped working so far i have replaced the stepper motor and speed sensor and it still don't work what else could it be...
You've replaced the two main components that would cause this condition. Does your odometer still work? If it does, then the problem is with the instrument cluster. If the odometer does not work, you should check the wiring from speed sensor to the PCM.

Speedometer stop working
GM had gauge cluster problems from 2000-2005. Bad stepper motors. On those units you have to replace the cluster or rebuild it with new stepper motors. Dealership fixed mine for $150.00

I have an 2005 gmc envoy,and the speedometer,rpm and the gas hand have all stop working.
Try and check your main fuses under the hood on the drivers side.If that don't help check the main hook up under the dash on the driver side, make sure all the conectors are hooked up.

2004 GMC Envoy Speedometer Issues
This issue is caused by faulty motors inside your Envoy instrument cluster and can only be repair by taking out the instrument cluster and replacing the motors which requires de-soldering and soldering tools and the correct replacement parts.
