Have you replaced the battery? the car draws it's electricity from the battery, then the alternator replaces the charge to the battery. if the battery is shot and will no longer hold a charge the car will not stay running once you remove the charge as in removing the jumper cables

SOURCE: 1999 dodge neon

I had the same issue and it turned out to be grounding issues. by that I mean ALL of my grounds were rusted/loose/ too small wire/ ect.

To curb this issue i had to locate multiple grounding wires on the engine and that little wire running from the ground terminal to the front cross member was heating up because so much current draw through it- after locating grounding wires, Sanding the connections and using petroleum jelly AND replacing the ground terminal and Positive terminal the issue cleared up.

The only reason i knew it was ground issues on my car was finding that one chassis ground wire heating up from just running my car.

Try giving it a good rap on dash above speedo, see what happens, and get back to me, it may have same problem as my old 95' neon did.

2004 Dodge Neon . All the lights , radio ,etc work , but it won't crank

the battery is dead.
next is jumper cable jump starts.
or fuses blown.
but I bet the battery voltage is not 12.6vdc,
and is below 8vdc, dead;. or below 10v
below 10 computers fail
below 8v the stater solenoid chatters and fails.
most modern cars 10v fails hard.
lights can work at 10v but are dim
the lamps are like 10amps and starter uses 300amps.
so lamp tests are useless to a starter, see why./?
30 times more current for a starter,
load test the battery first, or jump start it.
then if battery is ok there are lots of things to fail
in circuit order
  1. battery dead (fails load test)
  2. fuse blown
  3. key switch failing (i bet not)
  4. PRNDL switch bad. (learn to crank in Neutral too)
  5. starter relay bad.
  6. starter bad.

does the relay click at least?heard.<<<a savvy tech test.
good luck.

My izuzu axion 2004 stop working ,don't turn on

step one , head lamps work key off?
yes, good of not battery dead.
2: key on,
cluster lamps all glow, most of them do they>? if not say so.
3: so far so good,, turn key to start. does starter motor run.
gggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrr
yes./no
no is a NO CRANK
it wont start until it cracks
also known as a silent starter.

jumper cable start it now
or call AAAtow, they will.
clean battery lugs, of that green stuff. there.
or charge your battery
or find a loaned good charged battery.
or buy a new one, ouch.
can also be you left head lamps on.. Jump start it
or can be phantom drains. (ask)
of can a dead charge system if the problem repeats after the jump.

2005 dodge neon won't start I've jumped it off with jumper cables and take cables off it and it dies. i got another alternator and tried to jump it and it died when i took jumper cables off still????

I would suggest that you have a load test done on the existing battery as the indications are that it has several dead cells
the vehicle starts of the jumper battery but on removing the leads there is nothing with which to keep the ignition circuit operational
alternators need a current from the battery to start charging as they do not have residual magnetism in the stator so when you take the jumper leads off there is nothing to keep the alternator charging hence no power for the ignition circuit.

My 2004 Dodge Neon shut off unexpectly while driving down the road And yes I do have spark at the plugs

I assume that is just goes dead and when you try to start it everything turns on and turns over but won't start like it is not getting gas. If this is the case then the first thing I would check is the fuel relay located back by the gas tank. A parts store will help you out with locating this. Very easy to fix by yourself when you know where it is. These relays are notorious for corroding.

I have 2004 Honda Pilot and I started it with jumper and the alarm couldn't be stopped after I turn the engine off.

If the battery is dead when you jump it the alarm will sound. Pop the hood and put the jumper cables on first, then put the key in and start the car. this should turn the alarm off.

Tried starting my neon, it cranked then shut off, won't turn on now at all, lights and radio work. not even a turn over

probably a dead battery and possibly caused by a failed alternator. First try jump start and leave cables on. If car runs with cables on and then dies when you remove the cables, your alternator is not working. Let me know if that isn't it, and I'll provide additional troubleshooting steps.

Have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT

sounds like the car is running off the battery due to a bad alternator, the battery is just for the car to start, not to keep it running, replace the alternator and charge the battery and your problem should be solved, hope this helped

2004 Dodge Neon Fuse problem?

Sounds like corroded battery terminals/cables. The battery should have held a charge after jump starting. When a car won't even jump start, it's a sign of a dead battery or corrosion on the posts or cables. Throroughly clean the posts and cables and try to jump start again. The error code should clear itself since the battery would be disconnected. If you are not able to jump start the car, post back and we'll diagnose further. My guess is cleaning the posts and cables will get you running again. Best of luck!
