Check engine lighton . Car would not start, we replaced the battery. Now battery light on in the instrument panel. Code of P0606 came up. Car now starts but check engine light still on along with battery light in instrument panel.
Hi there:
P0606 is a internal computer fault. Sometimes extreme hot or cold weather will screw up a computer.
P0606 - PCM / ECM Processor Fault
This code is a fairly simple one. It basically means that the PCM/ECM (powertrain/engine control module) has detected an internal integrity fault in the PCM. When this code is activated it should store freeze-frame data that helps someone with an advanced code scanning tool to get information on exactly what was going on with the vehicle when the P0606 code was triggered.
Most likely the only symptom of a P0606 DTC code is the illumination of the "Check Engine Light" a.k.a. MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp).
Cause: In all likelyhood the PCM / ECM has failed.
Possible Solutions: As a vehicle owner there is little you can do to fix this code. The most common fix for a P0606 code is to replace the PCM, although in some cases re-flashing the PCM with updated software could possibly fix this. Be sure to check for TSB's on your vehicle (Technical Service Bulletins).
In all likelyhood the fix is to replace the PCM. This is generally not a "do-it-yourself" task, although in some cases it may be. We strongly recommend you have a qualified repair shop / technician do the work, one that has the capability to reprogram the new PCM. Installing the new PCM may involve using special tools to program the vehicle's VIN (vehicle identification number) and/or anti-theft information (PATS, etc.).
NOTE: This repair may be covered under the emissions warranty so be sure to check with your dealer as this may be covered beyond the bumper-to-bumper or powertrain warranty period.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Check Engine Light Problem.
My service engine soon light came on saturday on my 2003 nissan altima 2.5s, took it to the dealer and he stated I need a Catalytic Converter for the light to go off. Last yr Jan I had the same thing happen and there was a recall on the ECM they reset it for free. Any suggestions? I am so tired of getting ripped off being a single woman. The repair price they gave me was $940, my mechanic says he can repair w/new converter total charge of $300
SOURCE: check eng light with code po431 replased ox/sensors
P0431 is Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2). What is happening is this....the O2 sensor downstream of the Catalytic Converter is detecting the Converter is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to your cars specifications). 3 main causes of this is 1.) Defective O2 Sensor (which in your case elminates this one) 2.) Catalytic Converter is no longer functioning properly. or 3.) There is an exhaust leak. You will not notice any driveablitiy problems, however, you may get a rough/hard idle when its cold out. I would take your car to an exhaust shop and have them do a free exhaust system inspection. Alot of places like Midas/Mieneke Car Center/Monroe Muffler to name a few do these checks for free. Thanks for Using FixYa!
Sincerely,
JC

You will have to retrieve and clear codes from VDM module with a scan tool. You may also have to calibrate it as well.

Here is the definition of the code in GM manual:
P0128 - Coolant Thermostat Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature, this indicates the engine is running cold, u need a thermostat

the scan tool that you are using will not read codes from all of the modules. take the car to a gm dealer to have it checked with a tech2
