Belts squek

Some old belts are worn, replace belt if this is the case. there is a belt dressing that can be sprayed on that may help as well. The belt must be properly adjusted, if to loose it may make the squeak as well.

Sounds like serpentine belt is squeeking

If the squeek stops as the motor warms up replace it. You can also purchase some squeek stop spray and see if that helps before buying a new belt

I have a squeeking in my front belt area on my '97 Jeep grand cherokee. I have replaced bearings and cleaned pulleys. It will not stop-Help!!

I just had my AC condenser pump realigned for the same belt noise issue. They also discovered the bolts holding the condenser in place were stripped out from the previous owner. I now have no belt noises! I had replaced the idler and bearing and have been through 3 belts before we figured this out!

New routing diagram for the drive belt on my 2004 Cherokee. new belt is 13 inchs shorter (this is to eliminate the squeek problem), my local garage is reluctant to advise me!

Click on the following Link. It has the two (2) Serpentine Belt Diagrams.

I believe the Mechanic is bypassing your AC Compressor.
When you look at both of the Belt Routes you can bypass the AC with the shorter belt.
In the first Diagram: the Belt would go from the Power Steering Pump, bypassing the AC and going directly to (over the top) of the Water Pump.
In the second Diagram: the Belt would go from the Tensioner, bypassing the AC and going directly to (under the bottom) of the Water Pump.

Major friction/squeeking from serpentine belt!!!!

Keith,it sounds like you may need to clean the grooved surfaces on your pulleys, you could remove the belt and use some aerosol brake cleaner and a stiff brush to remove any build-up on the pulleys.you could also try spraying the same on the pulleys while the car is running, just be sure and wear eye protection and don't get to close to any moving parts.

Skeaky serpentine belt

are you positive the squeek is coming form the belt area?

the squeek can be from several other places, fan clutches can cause a high speed squeek, take the fan off and see if that cures it, the water pump front bearing can also be the culprit but that is hard to figure out without swapping in a new water pump, and lastly look at the AC compressor clutch, see if the squeek changes when you turn on and off the AC

hope this helps,
