I have a 2003 F250 6.0L
I have a manual 4x4 shifter in my truck, I recently put my truck into 4-low to get out of some mudd I was stuck in. I cannot get the truck out of 4wd and it seems to be stuck. I have tried everything that I know. I have locked and unlocked the hubs. put it in neutral, reverse, drive and nothing seems to work and it wont get out of 4wd

if it's jammed up that bad i seriously doubt it can be resolved without having to take the assembly apart. how ever don't take it to a dealer. your better off going to an independant shop your labor cost will be alot less

hello, yes you do have to take the hub off to replace the ball joint with the ball joint being on the back side of the hub. hope this helps and please rate this.

the hubs on that truck are a vaccum controled hub, when the swithch is turned to 4x4 the vaccum control solenoid (on the fender) applys vaccum to the hub and locks- you can put a vaccum gauge on the hubs- if a leak is found thre is an o ring and an axle hub seal that needs to be replaced... if no leak is found at the hubs check the vac. lines and solenoid.goodluck

chk the linkage under the truck for any foriegn objects. block the tires and have a friend put light pressure on the shifter while you lightly tap the linkage.

Have you gone under the truck to see if there's something binding at the transfer case? Perhaps you have mud caked into somewhere... just a thought.
