A foul oder of old, stall smoke comes out of the AC vents right after I start the car and the air begins blowing. After about 30 seconds the Oder is gone and the AC seems to be blowing Oder-free air. I have read that I can spray Lysol into the outside air intake while the AC is on circulating air from the outside and have tried this remedy several times to no avail. I have a deodorizer and a auto ionizer in my car to attempt to negate the smoker smell in my car. I have been unable to locate the cabin air intake vents to give them a blast of Lysol. Any ideas on how to rid my car of the smokey smell?
SOURCE: Does 2004 Mazda MPV ES equip with a cabin air filter?
(cabin filter solution) Their is an cabin airfiliter behind the glove compartment (2004 mazda mpv) which is very easy to take off. Replace the airfilter or clean it with soap and water. Open the glove box and on the bottom left had side of the glove box if you apply enough presure on it by pulling it out towards you and slightly down it should pop off. The right side should slide out immediately following the left side pop. All it is, is a fork like claw holding on to a bar. On the ride side is a bar sliding into a hole. That should do the trick. After the first time its a sinch.

SOURCE: changed the 2 cabin air filters but bad odor still comes out vent
If you run your Air cond on recirculate always try using an air sanitizer in your return vent. Or switch your A/C to outside air flow for for half an hour and raise the rear of your sunroof panel to vent the stale air do this till the smell dissipates and then close he sunroof and reset the A/C to recirculate if desired.
SOURCE: Fuel leak (smell is in the passenger vent) but cannot be located.
sounds like it could be a leaking fuel rail. you should fix this very soon. if it is it is a fire hazard. that is if it is under hood and not underneath. look under vehicle and check for wet spots.
