98 1500 silverado 2wd, front wheel bearing starts to ''growl'' at about 45mph. Original bearing with 150,000 miles on it? Rotor/Hub has been changed at least once. Can bearings be changed without replacing hub?
Yes the bearings can be changed on this truck. The bearing races will need to be removed from the rotor to do this use a punch and hammer once the rotor is removed. You will need inner bearing and race, outer bearing and race, and a seal, plus grease to pack the bearings. The hub on these trucks is the rotor. Please rate.
It is possible but i do reccomend changing the bearing races in the hub when you do it to prevent any premature wear on your new bearings. A new hub/rotor assembly will come with new races installed if that makes it any easier.

Oil is slinging out from the center hub on all four wheels of my 2013 f350 with only 33k miles. What should I do? Is this a common problem on this truck?
