A/C Compressor is bad it is on the Bottom side putting in a bypass pulley but i am having trouble getting the compressor to move i have taken the 3 front studs out, the back nut that connects the A/C lines but i must not be seeing some thing because it still won't move any ideas
SOURCE: is there anyway to bypass the a/c pulley when
I don't know of a practical way to get around this problem. If just the bearing inside of the clutch pulley is bad [which would first be noisy then might lock up and burn off the belt] then you may be able to have just that bearing replaced so your belt will work again. I've replaced several of these bearings over the years...they are pressed in place and do require a bit of skill and a good press to replace. Sometimes though the bearing will go bad and damaged the nose of the compressor badly enough that the only fix is to replace the compressor. The only real way to tell is to examine it all once the clutch pulley has been removed from the compressor. Hope this helps a bit!
If the hub bearing is noisy it will still make noise with the compressor off. That CAN mess up your belt. If it is quiet with the compressor off then you probably have internal compressor damage. Leaving it off WILL NOT mess anything else up on the belt system. If when you do use the compressor and it locks up you WILL lose your serpentine belt. One last thing. If your short on money you can measure the belt system less the compressor and pick up a shorter belt and bypass the compressor. Good luck.
