Hi, my bmw is reving by itself and sometimes i could be driving and i have to brake to slow DOWN BECAUSEit feels like the car is accelerating by itself, then ill go to start it and it STARTER GRINDS,eventually it will START and run rough for a min. then it goes ok but still revs?????could it be my idLE controlS???? yes ! I AM TOLD
The symptoms you described can be caused by a number of issues, including a faulty idle control valve. The idle control valve regulates the engine's idle speed by adjusting the amount of air that bypasses the throttle plate. When the idle control valve fails, it can cause the engine to rev up and down or stay at a high idle speed.
However, there are other possible causes for the symptoms you described. It's also possible that there is a problem with the throttle position sensor, mass airflow sensor, or fuel system.
To diagnose the problem accurately, I recommend taking your BMW to a qualified mechanic who can perform a diagnostic check using specialized equipment. They can then identify the root cause of the issue and provide an appropriate solution.

GO TO A KRAGEN OR AUTOZONE AND HAVE THEM RUN A TROUBLE CODE TEST, THIS COULD BE A TPS PROBLEM, VACUUM LEAK OR STUCK/WARPED THROTTLE PLATE.

Try the trunk lid where the tools are kept. The tools that I'm talking about are on the actual trunk lid, or atleast they are on my 94 318i. There should be a copy of the VIN there.
