98 stratus won't start

When my wife tried starting her the car there was no ignition functions, I checked the fuses under the hood and found the fuel ignition starter fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and tried starting the car, but the fuse keeps blowing out. Is there any troubleshooting I can do to possibly narrow or find potential for fuse blowing. Again it is a 98 Dodge Stratus.

Check the fuel shutoff valve. to see if it is on. press the reset button to do this. if it stays on. The answer could be pinched wires (a short) from the fuse wiring back towards the shutoff valve. if the valve shuts off try checking for current with a test light. if no current . The valve is bad. it seems like a short or open circuit on the fuel system wiring.

Sis had a 1997 Dodge Stratus and experienced issues with the cigarette lighter. Car would not start and I was able to trace an ignition fuse as the problem. Replaced the fuse and the car would attempt to crank but not start and the fuse would burn. Repaired the cigarette lighter and changed the ignition fuse but fuse continued to burnout. Pulled the accessory fuse and car attempted to start without the ignition fuse blowing. Put the accessory fuse back in place and the car started up no problem,

Seems to me you have a short to ground what you can do is unplug the fuel pump connector then replace the fuse to see if it still blows if it does not then you need to replace the fuel pump and sender if it does blow then you will need to trce the wire back to the fuse panel to see where it is shorted ....

My 98 dodge stratus won't startbut it will turn

You need to check if its got air, fuel, and spark. spray some throttle body cleaner in the throttle body and quickly try to start it. if it fires up then your not getting fuel so you may need a fuel pump and filter. If it does nothing check for spark, if you have no spark then you need to check the coils and crank position sensor.

Check the ASD relay in the under hood power distribution box. This powers the ignition system . Do you know what a relay is, how to test it ? Videos on youtube .

Car started dieing out and now will not start acts like its not getting fuel . First where is the fuel filter and is there a relay or is it just fused

The fuel filter is in the fuel tank. There is a relay under the hood in the relay fuse box center. 3 things could be bad. Crank sensor, cam sensor, or fuel pump. Obviously check the fuse /relay first. If the car does not start try spraying carborator cleaner in throttle body, if the car starts this means you have a fuel delivery problem. If car does not start it sounds like you have a no spark problem.

Lights work, but turn key and nothing except brake light comes on but no check engine, etc., and starter won't even click, no check engine light comes on dodge stratus

check the fuse under the hood for your starter and if it is blown replace it however this is only a quick fix as I have just fixed this problem, after time you will continue to blow fuses and the problem is your starter. However check the fuse first and see if it is blown, if so replace try to start your car, if it starts have the starter checked as well as the ignition switch.

My ignition fuel starter fuse blows 2 to 3 times a day on my 98 dodge stratus!

sorry this is not going to make you happy but its a wire shorting out to the negative side of the battery it could be anywhere under the hood, look for any wire that look chaffed, hope this helps regards John

1998 Dodge Stratus

i think you have corroded wires around the fuel pump harness creating a short circuit which is probably blowing the fuse.
