The speedometer stopped working and the transmission keeps shifting. Is there a cable that can be replaced?

you check the ATF (trans oil) condition this good indiccator for your trans status . (burn mean clutch inside burn ) have small chips . change ATF and filter and make sure it;s in level.

the most likely thing is one of the gears on the trans tail shaft is worn and the cable is not being turned, pull the speedo driven (on transmission) gear out and see if it is ok, most likely the teeth are worn off.
SOURCE: speedo gear keeps sheering nylon pins since rebuild
Two things:
The actual speedo cable is binding/rubbing and causing quite a real load on the nylon pegs causing the shearing affect.
OR
they migh have put wrong gear or damage existing metal gear which then damages the nylon. Think of the nylon as being a sacrifical item...just like a fuse. It is telling you a bigger issue is at hand and the nylon is the weakest link so it goes first.
