Open Question

When shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear my jeep sputters and acts like it wants to stall?

And sometimes i hear a popping/clicking noise. Just bought the jeep and havnet driven it on a road where i can get up past third gear so not sure what would happen going from third to fourth and fourth to fifth, any suggestions?

SOURCE: clicking noise from clutch when I push down to shift gears

there is a switch on the clutch linkage. you can see it if you look under the pedol it looks like a black cylinder that slides along the clutch shaft. when this breaks you can't start you Jeep.
Mine broke I had to wait 2 weeks for a replacement part.
oh yeah( it clicks when you press the clutch) so you know it is broken.

SOURCE: Transmission problem

I had a shifting problem. The car would start in the wrong gear and shift at wrong times. I repaced the governor postion sensor and tranny fluid and the problem has been fixed for several years. Did you replace the tranny fluid?

SOURCE: 02 jeep liberty won't shift into 3rd or 4th gear.

Ratio codes generally indicate a pressure loss & slipping which the computer reads as a gear ratio problem. Likely you need a rebuild.

SOURCE: 95 Jeep wrangler wont go in gear

if this is something that started suddenly, it could be a leak in your master cylinder or slave cylinder, or your fluid could be low, or there could be air in the lines. Make sure it's full of fluid, and get back to me.

check the fuses make sure none of them blew and if its not that then its proble a bad alternator, witch caused the ripple effect when one thing goes on a newer car no matter how small it will trigger a bunch of random events such as transmission not going into gear, i assume its a automatic i highly dought that the tps went with the low voltage, and if your hearing a clicking noise its either not enough juice going to the starter, or a coil wire popped off
