I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. When I start the truck, I hear a squealing . It gets louder when I hit the gas. Could this be the fan belt? Can I spray a belt dressing to quiet it until I get it replaced?

You have to remove the belt. Also you can have it tested on the vehicle.Once you have the 2 bolts off and the belt the alternator should come off.Good luck.

You either have a bad plug wire or have cracked one of the new plugs while installing them. Try watching under the hood while someone else accelerates the engine to locate the noise.
Good luck dont forget to rate.

SOURCE: Chirping Noise
First of all belt dressing is NO good if it was the belt making that noise it would get worst. It can be a few things, 1. I can still be the serpentine belt 2. The belt tensioner may be bad or worn bearing on it. 3. A bad water pump 4. A bad Idler pulley. 5. A bad Ac compressor.6. Bad alternator, All of the above can possibly cause this noise. What I recommend you do is remover serpentine belt and check each pull individually by spinng/turning them by hand. You should hear noise. If serpentine belt is worn/cracket replace. Here is a diagram of you belt routing. Good Luck contact if you need more help.
