Stuck clutch pedal

The clutch pedal is supressed and wont release. When the keys are not in the ignition, i can shift freely. However, when i insert the key and turn slightly, i am unable to shift to any gear. If i put the vehicle in say reverse, then insert key and crank it up, it jumps and grinds backwards. Needless to say the vehicle was promptly shut off.
I thank you in advance for any help you offer.

You have a leak in the clutch hydraulic system. without the spring tension from the clutches pressure plate the the pedal wont return. it is likely that the leak is at the slave cylinder, which is inside the bell housing. to replace it the transmission must be removed.

Check the clutch switch its attached at the top of the pedal although it moves freely its still a main switch only when the pedal is down its connected like a light switch on your wall when the pedal is up its off. However it depends how its wired through the ignition switch if its shorting in the up position meaning pedal up it could cause electrical problems with shifting veia the P.C.M.

MULTI-MODE MANUAL TRANSAXLE SYSTEM ADJUSTMENT
1. USING INTELLIGENT TESTER: CLAMP POSITIONADJUSTMENT (CLUTCH POSITIONADJUSTMENT)
Tech Tips
The multi-mode manual transmission system has a load controlled clutch cover (adjustment system). The pressure plate moves depending on the wear

When removing or installing any parts related to the multi-mode manual transmission system, move the clutch actuator to the clutch clamp position. This is
for normal operation of the load controlled clutch cover (adjustment system).
If the clutch position adjustment operation input fails, perform the operation again from step (a) more than 15 seconds after turning the ignition switch off.
Note
Do not depress the brake pedal while performing the clamp position adjustment using an intelligent tester.

Clutch pedal is stuck half way down wont shift gears

Check clutch cable, check clutch lever, if there is some noise from the clutch when the engine is running, then the release bearing is most likely faulty, or even the clutch pressure plate.

Hello there, i have a 2003 ford mustang mach1, the automatic shift is stuck on park and locked, the car turns on fine, but i can,t release the shift to drive, i have to put the ignition key in a certain...

There is a lock on the gear selector that requires a signal from the switch on the brake or clutch pedal. This switch often gets broken or dislodged from its holder and then will not release the shifter. Kind of strange for engine to start as the lockout is suppose to be 2 fold. To prevent starting by stopping the signal to the starter relay and next by locking the shift in Park. Check under dash at those pedal levers.

My 1990 Lexus sat with a dead battery for about a year. I replaced battery and it started right up, but I can't get the shifter out of park and into gear.

From sitting, the brake shift interlock solenoid has probably become stuck. There is a manual release near the shifter--you merely insert a key to push down the release. That will get you moving. With the engine running, try gently and rapidly pumping the brake pedal to get the solenoid moving freely. Be sure the brake lights are working.
In the worst case, you'll need to open the console to free the mechanism or replace the interlock.
