2006 Toyota Tacoma AC Blower works intermittently

The Heat & AC Blower Motor stops working intermittently in my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. When it works it works in all speeds. Usually it is either working or not working when I start the car and sometimes (not always) changes from either working or not working after car has been shut off and restarted. I have pulled inspected and reinstalled the10 amp Ign 10 amp Ign No 2 fuses behind coin drawer and 10 Amp AC Fuse in Engine Compartment Fuse Box but no change. I have pulled the harness at the fan motor and it looks normal, no burn marks. Can I eliminate any suspect parts: Fuses, Switch, Relay, Resistor, or Motor by these symptoms? Can anybody tell me which connections (wire colors) to hook 12 volts and a ground up to at the connector to the fan motor so I can bypass everything in the circuit and see if it is the motor?

SOURCE: Heat blower motor stopped

Hi. And welcome to FixYa. You need to remove the glove box door, and then you can get to the blower motor. 3 screws holds it in. Easy to remove.

A FIxYa rating for my assistance (4 blue diamonds) would realy be appreciated.

SOURCE: 99 Camry it keeps blowing 10amp fuse

I didn't mean it was possibly the aftermarket radio it self. I was thinking that who ever installed it may not have capped off the dimmer wire on the radio harness and it's shorting out once in awhile. People that don't know what their doing figure that sience the radio works the other wires left over don't do anything and leave them hanging.
That's why I asked for the clarification.
Installing radio's for so long you come across just about everything. If you bought the car used and it has the factory radio in it you don't know that the previous owner didn't take out his alpine and cobbed the factory radio back in etc.

My blower wont work at all

Heater blower? Well it's either the switch or the blower motor. Probably the motor if you use heat or AC often, and it's happening intermittently. Test the motor with an outside power source (like another car battery), I bet it acts screwy. It may just be dirty, depending on where you drive, or some small animals could have made a home in there. Hopefully nothing has come undone in your dash, that's a mess.

Go pick up a $20 Chilton or Haynes manual for your truck, that will help greatly, it's worth the cash.

Good luck!

Heater/defrost/ac does not blow in my 2006 tacoma. worked this morning, parked at work, came out half hour later and would not work.

what has most likely happened is that a fuse has blown that is in your blower fan circuit. Check your owners manual, and see if there is a fuse to that system, if there is, check and see if it is blown. If it isn't, then the problem could either be your blower fan itself, or your blower motor resistor. Generally, when the blower fan goes bad, no speeds of the fan work. When the Blower motor resistor goes bad, usually only 1 speed of the fan works. Try the first suggestion i gave, and it everything checks out in the fuse box, then try all of your fan speeds. If one works, you need a blower motor resistor, if none work, then it is most likely your fan. Let me know how it goes and i'll do my best to assist you further. good luck.

Replace the fan motor resistor, which is located in the blower housing, (under the dash, under the glove box) to the driver side of the fan motor. Held on by 2 screws. Common problem. I change a lot of them.
