2000 Accordlx eng. light on and drive blinks yellow code p0780?

I have a 2000 Honda accord.  The drive light blinks yellow and the engine light is on.  The manual says that it has to do with the transmition.  It could just need fluid or have a major problem.  I had a friend hook it up to his computer and the code is p0780.  Any idea what that code means.  I'm a single mom and I don't want to get screwed over by a mechanic.  Please help.

Po780 is a trans hydrolic systen code
could be a shift solinoid gone bad
have an experienced mechanic replace the lock-up controlle solenoid control solenoid valve/shift controlle solenoid valve "A" assembley
and the A\T clutch pressure control solenoid valve "A"/"B" assembley
start with these two parts farily inexpensive if this doesnt solve the problem then the trans needs to be replaced really expensive
both of these parts are located on the out side of the trans
rank my solution

Check engine error code 4501

that is a dash code, right and not a real scan tool.
read the FSM. it all there.
or go to alldata.com (might be there and is for real DTCs )
or google it.

let me guess, the check engine light is glowing driving
and you ignore that?
scan it , and see all errors. and this
fault Code: P0780(4501);

P07xx are tranny errors.
reset the ecu (scan tool button) and pray it dont come back.

I have a 2002 honda accord, V6 with 42,000 miles,,,yes,,,42,000 miles The check engine light went on, the dealer checked the code "p0780" Replace transmission. Can this be right?

The code you have P0780 is an internal hydraulic problem in the transmission. I did some research on this trouble code and the repair manual Say's to replace the torque converter clutch solenoid valve/shift solenoid valve A, and the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B.

In plain English these are the shift solenoids and torque converter solenoids. These solenoids control the fluid flow to the transmission and if they are not working properly then p0780 will set.

The bad news is the repair manual Say's to replace these solenoids and if the problem is still present then replace or overhaul the transmission because the problem is internal.

Most repair shops are not going to take the risk and just replace the solenoids, they will replace or overhaul the transmission.

I have a 1997 honda accord lx 6 cylinder 24 valve engine that the check engine light is on and the D4 light was blinking yellow and then now is blinking green. what could be the problem?

The check engine light comes on if there is an issue. But Honda also has preset the Check engine light to come on to remind you of oil changes. If you want to shut the Check engine light off. There is a Yellow Reset Button inside the Fuse panel.
