Question about Mercedes-Benz Cars & Trucks
Mercedes Benz CLK 430 year 2002 Problem:3 to 4 months ago my trunk lid would not stay open, MB dealership repaired the spring of the trunk and fixed. Today when trunk lid is unlock with remote or manual, it slams opens faster that it use to be. So fast that it looks like it will hit the rear windshield. Can you please give advice on how to fix this. My dealership is clueless & helpless.
The springs should have viscous fluid in them that prevents opening fast. Replace again.

Try the fuse first. If you have done this than the problem could be in the actuator on the trunk latch. Poss loose/bad wire or faulty unit? I hope this helps!

On the side of the smart key there is a mechanical key that slides out of one of the sides-There should be a little release lever retaining the mechanical key. It can be inserted into the trunk lock and turned to open the trunk. There are several other positions the key can be turned to place the trunk lock actuation in different modes- it should be in your owner's manual Hopefully I have been helpful

Posotive can be found in hood driver side next to fuse box. It is a small rectangle box. You can hook negative to any solid ground on the car.

I have the same intermittent problem on my C230 in that the trunk lid switch will not open the trunk lid from inside. If you pull it the least bit hard, the little plastic switch button breaks off and you have to replace the whole unit. Mine has been replaced twice and five months later it is now happening again. One of the tech's at Mercedes happen to say in passing that the contacts may have a problem in the hot weather and it was acting up during several heat spells. Problem is the assembly is $742.00 installed each time and Mercedes says they only warranty the replacement from the date of the original installation instead of a new warranty on the new part. I am currently fighting Mercedes of America over this as they seem to have a problem with the switch and will not admit it. Everything is so expensive on a Mercedes.
