MIne was on the passenger side inside the wire loom next to the shock. You can get to it through the fender well. It just looked like a ball of tape and only the plug itself was exposed with the rest of it doubled back on itself inside the loom. It was actually long enough to stick out of the front of the truck.

Information on the use and location of the block heater termed "Engine Coolant Heater" is found on page 2-24 of the 2003 Owner's Manual:
"To Use the Engine Coolant Heater"....
1. blah.. blah .. blah
2. "Open the hood and unwrap the elcetrical cord. The cord is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment, near the power steering fluid reservoir. If you have a diesel engine, refer to diesel supplement for location.
3. blah..blah..blah

If you haven't found it yet, don't be surprised it's not there. By the spring of 2003, certain parts weren't installed on my Silverado, like the lock on the tire jack access hole on the rear bumper, even though it was included in a GM print out of the equipment included on my specific truck (I discovered that in time and even though GM claimed it was a $20 option, I insisted the dealer install it free - which they did). And somewhere along the line, GM dropped the underhood light that was included even on my 2000 base truck. Along with the 2nd accessory power outlet on the dashboard. GM was slowly stripping parts from 2000 on up. Excessive warranty costs may have been the reason. But that's another story.

Hope my answer helped.

I searched everywhere on my 2003, a nicely optioned Silverado LS, both sides, hi and low. There's no block heater! But my base 2000 truck did! GM ships a truck to Canada without a block heater! And yet RIck Wagoner earned $15.7 million with plants closing and an economy tanking! Maybe I should ask him how come GM was shedding parts and still ended up needing a bailout of taxpayer money!

Where is the block heater cord located on this truck?

I assume you have a 6.6L V-8 installed in the truck. If so, the block heater is located on the Right Side of the engine block in the center Freeze Plug boss.smogteacher_14.jpg

Where do you plug in a2003 chevy 2500 diesel when it is going to be cold

If you have a block heater, there will be an extension cord type plug somewhere near or under the front grille (sometimes you need to find the heater and follow the wire to find wherever it got tucked in) That gets plugged into an extension cord from the house power.

Where is the plug in for the heater in a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Diesel pick up truck located?

If your truck came equipped with a block heater the cord should be routed to the front bumper or just inside the engine compartment as you open the hood.Sometimes it is tucked into the back of the front bumper,or around the lower left corner of the inner wheel well were it meets the core support at the lower corner of the radiator. If you can not find the cord crawl underneath the truck and look at the "freeze plugs" in the side of the block, they are just round plugs about 2" or so across and are pressed into the side of the block this is where the block heater is installed by removing one of these plugs. So just look for one that has a cord to it or has an electrical connection to it with out a cord I have seen several vehicles equipped with a block heater and the cord has simply fallen off.Hope this helps sorry so wordy good luck.

2003 duramax 2500 i need to know the location of the cord for the block heater

If it has the block heater, the heater is located on the drivers side center of engine block. You should be able to crawl underneath, and see where the heater is put in place of a freeze plug, and just follow the wires up.. Usually tucked in along the fender somewhere..
