Parking lights and dash lights won't shut off

It has gotten really cold here, and now it seems that when I stop my dash lights, parking lights, and license plate lights will not go off. If i mess around with the lights, start and shut off the vehicle, and mess with the heater blower, etc. whatever I can find to mess with it will eventually shut off. Then my remote lock/unlock will not work until I start the vehicle after unlocking it manually.

The park lights staying on indicates the switch is deteriorating.
I would replace it.
The door locks is probably a voltage issue. With the cold weather, the locks need more voltage to unlock. They get that voltage when the engine is running. If you really want the locks to work without the engine, you might try accessing the locks and cleaning them. Then use a lightweight grease, like lithium grease, to help them open with less power.

One of two things:

the Headlamp stalk attached to the steering column (if you really want to call it that in your vehicle) is bad

-or-

The relay for parking lamps, etc. is stuck in the "on" position. Replace relay.

SOURCE: parking lights and license plate lights won't go off

Lacking an owner's manual, we weren't aware that there was a parking light switch on top of the steering wheel when this happened to our car. We had inadvertently switched that on. Did you check that?

SOURCE: Tail Light and License Plate lights stopped working

With light switch on, test the wires leading up to the mentioned lights with a test light(cost about 5 or 6 bucks at wal-mart) that way u can eliminate any corrosion questions and get to the source quicker, if test light indicates that the wire is hot, than check connection areas for any wear and tear and possible carbon corrosion. Check lightbulbs, my license plate light stopped working and wire was hot, but wouldnt turn on due to the housing base, got too dryrotted and wouldnt function propery, had to rig it up, but works now.

Brake light won t turn off at dash fluid full

That light is also tied in with the parking brake, with the key and light on pull up on parking brake pedal to see if light will go off, assuming you have a good brake pedal & not a mushy feel then it's doing it's job telling you have a hydraulic issue in the system. The switch for the parking brake is mounted on the mechanism and a single wire to it,works off a cam with pedal pushed down switch grounds the circuit.

Car accelerates itself

what year car, all are different, no year, no real help.

please do elaborate that
im doing what?
is this a problem parked, (in parking , implies you are stopping while driving?) what?
does this failure, happen, in PARK? (shift lever in park)
or is parking a verb, in that, im going to park but are attempting it.

questions.
is engine hot or cold, does it fail in hot or cold only or both.
the dash gauge shows, the engine temperature, a key fact.

are the floor mats hitting the gas pedal. like on most toyota's it seems?
are your feet, hitting the wrong pedals,
driving with snow ski boots?
if the fuel pedal is not sticking, then its a real problem.
for sure dont drive car... like this. if it is a real engine problem.

and yes, all cars can fail and do that.
just sticking throttle , and bingo.

The parking lights go on but headlights won't

The parking light may go out if both headlights are out, depending if they're wired to the same fuse. It sounds like there may be a blown fuse in the dash, take it in to mechanic and it should be a quick fix Wiring harness has come loose, blown bulbs, or bad wire.

Look under the dash by the parking brake and try to see if any wires are being moved or chafed by the parking brake linkages. That is what I have found in the past.

1993 blazer parking brake light won't shut off

Are you sure the brake light (on the dash) is on because of the parking brake ?
Try this. Watch the brake light and at the same time set your parking brake. If the light seems to get slightly brighter then it isn't on due to the parking brake it is on for another reason.
If it does not get brighter then you need to look at the parking brake switch down by the parking brake as it may be grounded out causing the light to be on.
Be sure to check the brake fluid level. If it is low on brake fluid it will turn the light on also.

Tail lights, parking lights and dash lights not working

If signal lights are working, probably a failing headlight switch. Even though fuses seem OK, you can try replacing the appropriate fuse.
