Brake and turn are the same filament in the bulb. Try a new bulb. if that doesn't work your going to chase a short/ground on that wire back to the switch. get a wiring diagram to help.

SOURCE: trailer signal and brake lights not working at back of trk

THERE SHOULD BE SEPARATE FUSES FOR THE TRAILER WIRES. HAVE YOU LOOKED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN FOR THEM? IF YOU HAVE AND THEY CHECK OUT OKAY, THEN CHECK THE WHITE WIRE ON THE TRAILER PLUG, IT IS THE ONE THAT IS EXPOSED ON THE TRAILER PLUG. IT IS THE GROUND FOR ALL THE TRAILER LIGHTS AND THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL THE WIRES. SEE IF THE TRAILER HAS A GOOD CLEAN GROUND AS WELL(WHITE WIRE). HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

No tail lights or dash lights

If you have checked the fuses for those two circuits and they have power, the next step would be testing the headlight switch.

2003 ford expedition tail turn signal light dont work bulbs are ok

You say the rear tail turn signals are not working are the fronts working? If the fronts work and the rears don't then you have a wire issue. Check the grounds for the tail lights or check and see if a trailer wire harness was put in by splicing the wires. Also check for brake lights and see if they work should be same bulb. If the fronts do not work either check fuse 18 in the fuse box should be a 10 amp or check brake fuse 2 which is a 20 amp

Turn signal and brake lights

these vehicles have a fuse for front and back turn signals. Check the owners manual where your back tail light fuses are located. It happened in my 99 expedition four yrs ago

CHECK ALL LIGHT BULBS IN THE BACK. PROBABLY HAVE A FEW BAD BULBS THAT ARE BURNT OUT COMPLETELY. CHECK LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS ALSO. CHECK FUSES TOO TO MAKE SURE THE TAIL LIGHT FUSE IS GOOD.

Bulb only illuminates when i engage turn signal.

Hi: tail is on its own circuit and utilizes the longer thinner element in tthe bulb --- the brake and turn utilize the short thicker element in the bulb---- two different circuits. If bulb fails on tail ligh then the bulb is more than likely burned out. When you take the bulb out, look at the elements and you should see a broken thin filiment. bulb is bad, replace. good luck

2001 Explorer Sport ,Rear Driver Brake Light and Turn Sig. Broke

Rear lights are double filament bulbs one side for the lights other side for the brake/turn signals so it still may be a bulb. Do u have a test light or volt meter you can check to make sure u have power there when brakes or turn signals are activated. Or just try another bulb.

Main brakes lights wont work

I have the same problem and after a year of trouble shooting I have figured out that my third brake light the one on the top of the tail gate, the lens cover has a couple of cracks and water seeps in and my brake lights work, when it dries out they stop working because the water bridges the power to all the plugs.

So in order to fix this problem I ordered a new 3rd brake light from the ford dealer for about $180.00 as I was not able to find one at a junk yard or online, now my brake work. Also the new light comes with new plugs, lens cover and base so I guess it's worth it.

Check yours for a crack then uninstall it so you could see the melted plugs.

Good luck.
