Clean the cookie crumbs out of the receiving end of the seat belts. Not even kidding. You need some high pressure air. Or a pressure washer (ask around - pressure washer owners always are looking for a reason to use those things).
I'm not being funny, if the belts won't latch, something is clogging the latch. Unless the male end of the belt is too short, or the receiving end is too short, and they just don't reach. In which case the operator my be the issue.

SOURCE: Location of blower motor switch resistor on 2004 Grand Marquis

The blower speed controller is located under the hood on the right or passenger side on the heater housing just to the side of the heater hoses near the very back of the right cylinder head.
Yes that would cause the concern you are having.

SOURCE: where are the spark plugs located on a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis

There are eight COPs (coil-on-plugs) to remove. Using a 7mm or 9/32" socket, remove each bolt securing each COP to the intake manifold on top of the engine. Remove all eight COPs, and the spark plugs are underneath. When replacing the spark plugs, use only the proper Ford/Motorcraft plugs, even if they cost twice as much as the aftermarket ones. You will avoid further headaches this way. Hope this helps.

What makes a belt squeal on a 2004 mercury grand marquis

Hi - The belt may need to be replaced, or the belt tensioner may need to be replaced. These belts are pretty trouble free. Easy to replace, just make sure you replace in the same way as the original was on the pulleys. Most cars have a diagram somewhere on the inside the engine compartment.

The air bag light on my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Ultimate Edition blinks 3 times then goes out, then does this a couple more times, then stays on constantly.Any ideas?

There appears to be a pattern of premature failure of seatbelt pretensioners in the mid-2000s Gran Marquis, especially the 2005 model year. See carproblemzoo.com or NHTSA complaints. Ford dealer wanted $103 for diagnosis and $501 for replacement of the part.

Where to locate a/c blower resister in a 2004 grand marquis

  • For this a 2004 Grand Marquis the blower motor resistor is located on the bottom of the heater/AC housing on the passenger side of the car under the instrument panel. You need to remove the glovebox off from the instrument panel to replace it.
  • To change it follow these steps.
  1. Remove the neg battery cable from the battery.
  2. Wait 5 minutes before moving on. This is important to wait or you risk the air bags accidentally deploying.
  3. Remove the glovebox from the instrument panel.
  4. Pull out the lock on the blower motor resistor wire harness connector to unlock the connector latch.
  5. Depress the latch on the connector and unplug the connector from the resistor.
  6. Now remove the two screws holding the resistor in place.
  7. Now remove the resistor.
  8. Revers steps to install new on.
  9. hope this helps.

The first problem with our 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis is the seat belt light and air bag light both go on randomly. The next problem is the key seems to be too loose in the ignition and sometimes you have...

I would replace the clock spring rotating contact drum under the steering wheel for the restraint system warning light issues and check the operation of the headlight sensor when the lights will not go off, this is likely a sticking relay.

How to change headlight on 2004 Mercury

When you open the hood you will see a cover where the hood latch is. Some covers have individual doors on each side of the hood latch. If you have that type just pop the release on the cover and reach down to the headlamp bulb. It comes out with a twist with the socket and then pull the bulb free. Use a kleenex or gloves to install new bulb and reverse the process.

If the whole panel is one piece there are some plastic button holders to remove to lift the cover. Your headlights are underneath. In some cases the passengers side headlight may require removing the battery to access. Then just twist the socket and remove the bulb afterwards, then reverse process.

Rear seat belt repair on 2001 mercury marquis

If simply pulling and releasing them doesn't work.(which i am sure you've already tried a hundred times!) you will have to replace them. Most scrap yards will have them available. and remember the same seat belts are used in a wide variety of models so you don't have to find them from the exact same car.
Good Luck!
