My 2003 LS did this last year. My fix was a new computer. The cost somewhere around $1,400. Not saying you have the same problem.

SOURCE: 94 Lincoln TC engine stalls when slowing/stopping

Most common cause of stalling for Lincolns in that era is the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). It regulates fuel mixture, idle speed etc. A bad TPS will usually act up in one of two ways:

  1. When cold, car continually stalls
  2. When warm, car stalls when slowing down (especially if AC is on)
As far as valve cover oil leak, it's a problem that should be addressed to keep oil from fouling your spark plugs but highly unlikely to be the cause of your stalling problem. Hope this answers your question. All the best.

SOURCE: etc light comes on will

  • This is an Engine Fail Safe Test If that light has come on then you really need to have the vehicle scanned and pull the code to find out what exactly is going on.
  • I will give you some things to look at that are the major problems when this light comes on.
  1. The first thing I look at when this light comes on is the MAF sensor which is located on the air "tube" going from the air filter housing to the intake. If that sensor has gone bad then the car will do just as you are stating and the light too will come on.
  2. The second thing I take a look at is vacuum lines. Check around everywhere in the engine bay and look for a vacuum line that has popped off as this loss of pressure too can cause this light and your symptoms.
  3. Make sure the air filter is in the housing proper and not smashed in there.
  4. Bad coil wires can cause this problem too.
  5. Make sure to inspect the battery cables and the connectors to make sure they are tight, free of corrosion and not rotted under the insulation.
  6. Check the connections at the fuse box under the hood as well.
  7. Some other things could cause this that requires an extensive scan diagnosis, not just a quick Auto Zone free scan. Things like the PCM having gone bad or a bad diode in the alternator.

  • There are some things here you yourself can check real easy and one can be the fix, If one of the things I listed that you can check is not the fix then you need to take it to a repair shop to have it diagnosed.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

Regards, tony

Why is 2011 Toyota Corolla that has 79,000 miles jerking on long distances?

Problems that only occur after 4 hours driving would be very difficult to diagnose. I would take it to a garage that has a professional grade scan tool and ask if they can access the historical data to check for the cause. Otherwise you just wait until it becomes a regular occurrence or the Engine Malfunction Light comes on.

After driving my car 2006 chevy impala for about 20 miles the dashboard warning light oil pressure low stop engine and the oil warning light appears, but if step on break or slow down it goes out..wha

Verify that the engine has the proper amount of oil. The inertia from accelerating may be moving the oil in the oil pan away from the sensor and causing it to send a signal, then when you slow the oil levels out and the sensor go's off. I've had this happen alot with a taurus that I owned. The simple solution was to top off the oil to the correct level and the sensor did not come on again (until it ran low again, had a leaky oil plug on oil pan).

My 2001 Saturn L200 service light with the wrench keeps coming on. If I drive about 100 miles and park the car when I return to start it that is when the light comes on not while driving. I can not get the...

Service (Wrench) System Check The SERVICE (Wrench) telltale is turned ON by the cluster when it receives a command from the powertrain control module (PCM) or the body control module (BCM). The PCM or BCM will turn the SERVICE (Wrench) telltale ON for all non-emission related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that require that a telltale be turned ON, some DTCs do not turn ON a telltale but are stored to aid in diagnosis.
The SERVICE (Wrench) telltale will also be turned ON if the Antilock Brake System (ABS) control module has detected a fault in its own warning indicator system. If the ABS cannot turn ON its own telltale, a message will be sent to the BCM through the Key Word 2000 data bus to turn ON the SERVICE (Wrench) telltale.
The SERVICE (Wrench) telltale will be turned ON by the cluster for 2-3 seconds, when the ignition is turned to RUN, for a visual system check.

You need to have codes checked .

You have a problem with the rad fan. This could be a fuse, wiring, an so on. Do Not drive this car until this is corrected!! Overheating a car is like a person having a stroke! Some come back, others don't.

Dont no how to put on serentine belt

All engines use an automatic drive belt tensioner. No adjustment is necessary. It is recommended that the belt tension indicator mark be inspected with the engine OFF at 60,000 mile (96,000 km) intervals. If the indicator mark is not between the MIN and MAX marks, the drive belt is worn or an incorrect drive belt has been installed.

Wrench light is on and odometer shows negative mileage

The negative number means the car should have had it's oil changed that many miles ago. Oil life starts at 100% for new oil & counts down every 10%. At 15% the display will always show, which means it's near time to change the oil.

usersteve83, your oil may have been changed but the timer not reset. Reset the timer as shown...
1. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. (do not start engine)
2. Press SEL/RESET repeatedly until the oil life indicator is displayed.
3. Press & hold the SEL/RESET for about 10 seconds until it blinks then let go of the button.
4. Press the SEL/RESET again for about 5 seconds or until the oil life indicator resets to 100%.

Wrench = Maintenance Minder: Symbol letter & number...

Symbol B - Replace engine oil & filter, Inspect front & rear brakes, Check parking brake adjustment, Visually inpest the tie rods, suspension components, driveshaft boots, brake hoses & line (including ABS), all fluid levels & their conditions, exhaust system, fuel lines & connections.
