Driving yesterday and all of sudden engine made a loud howling noise and then engine light came on and extreme loss of power. Put car in neutral and coasted to side of road. Car would not start, wasn't even like it was trying to turn over. Recently had all accessory and drive belts replaced. Could it be timing belt? 2005 dodge neon SXT with just over 86K in miles
Code p 0340 refers to camshaft position sensor(CMP) sensor A bank 1---circuit malfunction===causes ---wiring---CMP sensor ECM
have the CMP sensor checked / replaced
when you are checking the sensor , turn the engine over and if the camshaft is turning , it is not a timing belt
However if the engine has not had a timing belt changed (requirement at 60K miles) It would be a good move to have it done as it is well over due and will fail soon
SOURCE: Noise and Vibration
I replaced the lower passenger side engine mount and the vibration is still there but a bit less vibration. The lower passenger mount was worn out. I was told by the Dodge service dept that it takes 5 hours to change the main hidden engine mount which is mid way up the passenger side of the engine. That main hidden mount cost 75.00
To get to it you would have to remove the wheel, inner fender plastic work, windshield washer fluid tank, and etc.
SOURCE: engine seized driving down road, now won't even turn over
The 3 liter mitsubishi is pretty prone to this actually. You would have to tear it down to see what happened, but yes it's likely that you have a bent valve and/or hole in the top of a piston from a valve.

I had the same issue and it turned out to be grounding issues. by that I mean ALL of my grounds were rusted/loose/ too small wire/ ect.
To curb this issue i had to locate multiple grounding wires on the engine and that little wire running from the ground terminal to the front cross member was heating up because so much current draw through it- after locating grounding wires, Sanding the connections and using petroleum jelly AND replacing the ground terminal and Positive terminal the issue cleared up.
The only reason i knew it was ground issues on my car was finding that one chassis ground wire heating up from just running my car.
SOURCE: Does a 2005 Dodge caravan SXT have
If it a 2.4L I-4 Eng it has a timing belt @ 100-125K Change. On 3.3 , 3.8L V-6 it has timing chain @ 175-200K change
SOURCE: 2003 Dodge Neon: P0016 (already replaced sensors, belt, tensioner
the computer may need to be reflashed. if it is running then it is not a bad sensor. either of those being bad would cause it not to run.
