If it is cranking, it is turning over! It is cranking and not firing, or starting.
intermittent problems are difficult to diagnose. Clean the Throttle Body and the Mass Air Fuel Sensor to start with. If that doesn't fix it, you need someone with a high level scan tool computer to read the freeze frame data when the issue happened.
It is is bad in the morning, it might be condensation if the vehicle is left outside. This is the time of year when condensation is high. Spray WD40 on plug leads and electrics.
To clean the throttle body you will need a tooth brush and some throttle body cleaner spray.Remove intake hose on throttle body, you may have to also remove the air cleaner but most times you can just move it aside. This being drive by wire you will not be able to open the throttle by stepping on the gas pedal. you will need to use your finger to push it open,Push throttle plate open and spray plate and body, then use toth brush to clean plate and body. spray to clean out and use brush to loosen carbon. place a rag under the throttle to caught cleaner run out, the rest will burn in engine. After you clean start truck, if truck is hard to start then step on pedal to start, this will clear out the cleaner. try not to over do it on the spraying. When cleaning you want to clean area that plate sits against. For example the closed plate, the area around the plate is the area that air is sucked through and with carbon build up there it restricts air flow at idle . thats the area to clean, the plate edge and body. hope this is helpful good day
Instructions for doing it without removing the throttle body.
1. Disonnect the battery....very important so your stepper motor isn't ruined when moving the butterfly.
2. Remove the plastic resonator on the top of the engine (The black piece that says 4200 on it)
3. Remove the large rubber hose from the throttle body.
4. Clean away, with throttle body cleaner or Seafoam, I just use the blue shop towels to clean in there. Could use a plastic bristle brush also for more elbow grease. Be very careful, as the butterfly will cut you very easily, very sharp edges. Make sure you get all the gunk out of there, including any edges of gunk that may have formed, preventing the butterfly from opening and closing properly. Needs to be nice and shiny.
5. Hook the resonator and hoses back up, don't forget the little pcv hose on the front right corner of it.
6. Hook the battery back up and drive around for 20 minutes or so with all accesories OFF. The computer will relearn a properly functioning throttle body at that point.
7. Enjoy a little bettery gas mileage and horsepower.
Definitely clean that throttle body...can do it yourself for around $7.

As far as the injector cleane....Buy a $10 can of Seafoam, that will clean the injectors. Look on Youtube on how it works, good stuff.
Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body as well as the electrical connectors for the throttle position sensor and the idle speed control solenoid then disconnect the plastic air intake duct, remove the four bolts securing the throttle body assembly to the intake manifold and remove it.
Clean it out using an old toothbrush and a can of throttlebody and air intake cleaner , then reinstall it by reversing the steps above.
If you are talking about cleaning the throttle body, Ford does not recommend cleaning it with any type of brake cleaner or carb cleaner, as it can cause damage to the throttle body. This is true- DONT spray anything into the throttle body! If it is dirty enough to need a light cleaning, youll have to use a dry, clean, lint free rag with NO chemicals on it to lightly wipe down the inside of the throttle body. Remove the air duct that leads into the throttle body and then hold the throttle butterfly valve open manually with your hand. Use the cloth to wipe everything down, then reassemble. DO THIS WITH THE VEHICLE COLD AND OFF!!! This is just about the best way to clean the throttle body, just be extra careful not to damage anything as they are sensitive.
1st gen throttle body they rarely fail, I recommend to remove and clean the unit first before replacing one, used Valvoline throttle body cleaner only; when you have the unit out, take your time and clean it slowly soak it completely with the solvent. refurbish run you 90-100 bucks from RockAuto.com, another place to look is junk yard, don't buy new. 30 minute job cleaning or replacing the unit. If it serve my memories correctly, 350z use the same throttle body as G35 up to 07'. hope that help some
