My 2000 Ford Taurus starts shaking only when I apply the breaks in reverse?

For example, When I am backing out of my parking space the car goes into reverse and reverses just fine. As soon as I apply the brakes the car starts shaking violently. Let off of the brake still shakes! Put it into drive it stops immediently. It only happens in reverse and shakes at no other time. My car has no problem shifting through all gears. I am a college student and this is my only vehicle so it has got to be fixed PLEASE HELP! Also it doesn't do it everytime I put my car in reverse. Just when it is in the mood to cause me problems I guess. The car runs fine except for this major issue.

Check you motor and transmission mounts. if one of them are wore out it will cause the car to do this. i just fixed a mazda with the exact some problem yesterday, but the situation was in reverse. runs like a champ now

Shakes and dies when RPM goes below 1

intake idler unit needs cleaning unit is on the side of the intake not the one that controls throttle the other one. remove and clean out. or spray carb cleaner in to clean out. also clean the connectors on the wiring. should be fine after that, if not you will need to remove it and give it really good clean out.

2004 ford taurus violently shakes in drive when break is applied (like at lights), not in park or reverse.

check for vacuum leak at the brake booster with brakes applied . Put on the hand brake and take the foot off the brake to check this . Run fault codes to find any faulty sensors.

You may need a park/neutral safety switchir have yours adjusted. Make sure the shifter lever goes all the way in to park first and see if wiggling and jiggling it makes a difference

How do I disengage a locked parking brake on a 2001 Ford Taurus wagon? I left the car sitting with the parking brake engaged for a long period of time and now it won't disengage.

Try putting the car in reverse and forward back and forth..Give just a little acceleration,,while doing this..Sometimes this will let it break free

possible splines stripped in torque converter that turns transmission pump. Our 2006 ford minivan did this to me when I stopped to get gas. it would not move when i started back up. I cannot remember if scanner showed transmission pressure or if I had to hook a gauge up to find out. I basically had to replace torque converter, I did flush transmission cooler in case medal from stripped splines was circulated thru system.

My car engine is shaking

is it shaking due to rough running ? you may need a tuneup if not you may have a broken motor mount, with the hood open and the front and back of the vehicle is clear (not ruining anything over) stand to one side of the vehicle, observe the engine and have a helper with there foot firmly on the brake put it into reverse and apply the gas gently, then put it into drive and repeat the engine should move very little if it moves considerably replace the motor mount

check to see if you have brake lights sometimes the wire at brake light switch breaks car when running needs to see brakes applied to come out of park

your shifter is out or ajustment
take to garage have them ajust it for 25 - 50 bucks

Everytime I put my car i park it goes into reverse.

It sounds like you have a damaged shifter cable.It is an adjustable cable but if it is that far out of adjustment then it is probably damaged. Replace it.
